I'm having a party on Saturday but I am nervous that stuff is likely to get trashed by drunken teens. My parents will literally kill me if stuff gets trashed and I wanna avoid it at all costs but I dont really know what to do except hide things of value.

I have over-invited already. I was allowed about 20 but I think about 30 are likely to shop up, maybe more. Also I am wary that townies may try and gatecrash it which wouldn't be too ace. I know it is party and I am meant to relax but I can see myself sat there worrying and supervising drunk people.

I've not had my own house party before so if you have can you offer me some helpful advice people! Cheers a lot guys.

When I had a party at Uni, it took weeks to clean the house. It was horribly trashed.

Get someone to bring their own decks over and play some "choons". Put loads of bins around the place and try and lock up the bedrooms or at least make them off limits.

Put all valuable stuff in the attic - all of it. Or it'll get stolen.

Have loads of booze at hand and make sure the revellers can fill the garden as well.

Fill your bath with loads of cold water and tell people to put their cans in it to keep them cool.

Have low lighting and a load stereo. Play dance, hip-hop and possibly nu metal. (I don't like those types of music but at a party that's just the way it is).

Music wise, what should i play?

You cant play rock music at a party because you get a headache so either I am reduced to dance cd's or asking people to bring some cd's and they can be blamed if the music sucks.

Bins, yup, loads of them.

LOCK away any spirts that are around the house, move pictures on walls, in fact anything below head height should be moved from a wall.

Bathroom mats should be put away (you don't really want to picking up soggy ones in the morning) unless you have carpet by the tub.

Bedrooms should be locked or out of bounds.

Food should be emptied from the fridge and put in a cool place from which it can be retrieved.

Most important though, your the host, don't drink too much, then if things are starting to go wrong you can stop them.

Or even better have a zombie in your parents room on guard. Any trespassers he can eat as payment.

Yeah, having plenty of bins is a good idea, less tidying up the next day. Don't expect anyone to help you tidy or wash up.

Stick valuables/breakables in your parent's room. If they have any sense most people will stay out of that room. If not, flat out tell them not to go in.

get all the valuable stuff and shove it in a room you can lock. make sure anything breakable is stowed away. be sure to have towels/cloths on hand, get plenty of ashtrays (if you allow smoking), and put bins in most rooms, or large bin bags.

parties involving beer inevitably end in people acting like monkeys (doesn't matter who it is), so it's best to be safe if it's not your house.

make some rooms off limits if need be.

and enjoy your party!

I hate house parties at my own place, I spend the whole night worrying. I actually tell my friends not to invite certain people, not for numbers, but because I simply don't trust them and don't particulary like them.

If you can trust everybody there, and you're there to keep an eye on them, you should be OK. If you're unlucky, they'll see you as some sort of wet blanket by asking them NOT to burn your hedges down, like my mates on my birthday...
