The Coelocanth, which still exists today, predates the dinosaurs by around 50-100million years and not only laid eggs, but "sat on them" by keeping the eggs INSIDE it's body until they were ready to hatch.
It's also believed that they are semi-evolved to live on land, but given that their bouyancy design and "airless", oil filled bodies are perfectly designed to live in extreme depths, I find that difficult to believe.
But by the way, Memo, Firebrand etc are correct unless it was specified that the egg was a chicken's egg or that a chicken had to sit on said egg. Since neither were, they must be right.
Please explain the concept of evolution.

Chickens are decended from dinosaurs. Over 65 million years the egg will be layed countless times, but the thing inside the egg will change as natural selection changes characteristics. THEREFORE the egg will be layed and FROM the egg the modern day chicken will hatch.
If your argument is that the chicken must have come first because it was the first thing to sit on its eggs to incubate them, I suggest you do yourself a favour and use daddies electric drill to make yourself some headroom.
And for your information, it's well known that MANY dinosaurs sat on their eggs not only to keep them warm, but also to protect them from predators.
Basically, your argument is flawed at pretty much every level.
Yes, dinosaurs laid dinosaur eggs.
Now, what is the question that is posed?
I believe it was:
"What came first; the chicken or the egg?"
Now, where there do you see that it specifies any particular type of egg? Oh wait, you don't. Which brings us right back round to:
the egg, because other species of animals laid eggs millions of years before chickens even existed.

Dinosaur lay dinosaur eggs not bloody chicken eggs.

But shortly after Anne Widecombe was born.
Although now its been scientifically proved that they are not chickens at all, but seagulls without the attitude.
