Are any of you married already and have any horror stories or great stories to tell?
I've no intention of getting married at all. It seems redundant to me and I see no need, be it in a church, Sri Lanka or registrar office.
It's not fer me
i wouldnt invite over 200 people.
i was suprised that there was such a big difference in money terms.
are you still looking forward to your time in the registry office, with your jeans and t-shirt on?
so... are you still looking forward to your jeans and tshirt in the office?

Yes. But the cost is nowhere near as much. Because the £ is worth a lot over there. More for your money.

But what if you believe a weddding is about you and you partner? Why invite 200+ people that you probably havent seen in years simply for the sake of it. Her and partner, parents and that's it. A day just for them, instead of worrying about everyone else and are they happy and did all the cars get there on time etc etc.

Gah. Right.
Because here in the Uk, for a traditional church wedding you pay for everything. From food and waiters to the bridesmaid gowns.
Over there, you pay for the ceremony. That includes the elephants and temple etc because that's a traditional Sri Lankan wedding.
It's all inclusive, and for them a more memorable occasion and nobody went into debt to pay for it.

There's something so very wrong about that sentence.

And that just makes it worse.
