I am starting a DVD collection. Does anyone know any good DVD's, prefebly films? At the moment I have Saving Private Ryan and Gladiator. I am thinking I might get the Star Wars trilogy, the Indiana Jones trilogy or Star Trek: First contact.

Thanks

Yes and Hard Boiled was the film that the majority of Max Payne was based on. Watch 'The Killer' and then watch 'Hard Boiled' and then watch 'A better tomorrow' and voila, you have a live action version of Max Payne, just not cheesy and not a single American in sight.

I aren't openly saying Hard Boiled is rubbish. It just annoyed me when you were comparing Black Hawk Down which was a real life event to a fictional event in Hard Boiled. I have read the book Black Hawk Down from after the event and some of the conversations between young lads of 18 upwards about not wanting to lose their families etc is pretty hard to take in. The film takes what the book did but because of its length it didn't include any of the dialogue etc. The premise is still there though and there definitley isn't any of the "hero BS" or American patriotism which you seem to think.

Hard Boiled is a great film. As is "A Better Tomorrow."

My bro's got The Killer. I haven't watched it yet, though.

Shame about Bullet Proof Monk. Yet another Martial Arts film ruined by western production and shoddy directing.

I'm actually a big fan of Ridley Scott films, but I haven't seen BHD yet.

Yeah, but The One was not a bad film - good concept but flawed in execution.

Ya should. Bloody excellent film, some of the best action scenes you're ever likely to see.

Also worth checking out is 'Bullet in the Head' another superb John Woo film.

If no one's recommended it already, then I recommend Donnie Darko. It's about a really smart, yet totally wierd kid who is told by a 6 foot rabbit, that the world is going to end. It sounds well dodgy (Patrick Swayze is in it f'chrissakes!), but it ain't.
It's one of those films that gets better every time you watch it. It's wierd, but if you like that sort of thing, then get it in. Tha won't be disappointed.

Also, Ghost Dog is a fairly good film that's worth getting on the cheap. It's a wierd mix of hip-hop, the way of the samurai, and the mafia. Somehow, it's a good film!
