Well, that's half true.
Kessen is a very poor game, as well as RR5, and a few others.
Yet, such games as Tekken Tag Tournament, Smuggler's Run, that Athletics game (dunno what it's called {:)), SSX and F1 World Championship 2000, are all lauch games or early release games, and they're all perfectly good games.
In my opinion and most people's opinions, TTT and SSX are brilliant games. Although some say 1080 is better that SSX, I disagree, as I've played both. Some say Soul Caliber is better than TTT, but they're both great. I've played both, and TTT wins it for me, probably becuase I loved the previous Tekkens.
Anyway, the Athletics games is a good game, apart from the button bashing gets repetitive, but all athletics games are like that!
Also, Smuggler's Run is one of the most fun games I've ever played. It's really a mixture of Driver and Crazy Taxi, both which are extremely good games.
Some may disagree, but everyone I know loves Smuggler's Run, and I'm no exception.
F1 World Championship 2000 is the best Formula 1 game I've ever played, and that's saying a lot, as I have quite a few F1 games.
This is mostly because of the graphics and updated drivers/teams, but this game really doesn't have any faults.
Anyway, people say that 5 still isn't enough. But look, who has the money to buy a PS2, and more than 5 games?!?
I have 3 games, and I think they're all great, so I don't care whether Kessen or RR5 are rubbish, because I have these games to play on.
All I'm saying is that the PS2's launch games weren't the worst ever, and a few of them are actually excellent games!
This is just my opinion, as well as many other PS2 owners', and this is not a dig at any other console or console owner, I'm just putting my opinion out.
Thanks for reading, Ant.

Soul Calibur is far better the TTT!!! and thats why it is still known around th world as the best Beatem up EVER!!
Anyway, how can anyone like Tekken. Play the Japanese version. It's LOADS faster (all the games in the series), and has never been any good on the PAL systems. It's made to be fast fighting, almost like Soul Calibur... instead is squeeks in like a robin reliant... just play an import!
Anyway, compare the PS2 launch o other launches.... it's average.
Sega's was great (in the west at least), destroying critics
Nintendos was poor- only mario in japan!

For instance, the snow always seems to be rough and hard to control on, surely the snow is smooth in some places??
And of course, there's the matter of graphics.
I find nothing wrong with SSX apart from the annoying commentary.
Anyway, I care more about the MGS2 pics I saw yesterday, and ZOE which will come with an MGS2 playable demo!!!
TTT?? POOR?? This is the best beat 'em up ever. It has brill graphics, around 30-odd characters, Tekken Bowl mode, along with about 10 other modes.
Namco didn't rush it, and it is definitely an amazing game. I don't think you've played it enough to realize how addictive it is.
I dont dislike the PS2's games I dont think they had the best launch games, the company had too many for a start and when you have to many launch games then 3rd parties will suffer! I think I heard correctly that one of the launch games only sold 34 copies in the first weekend!?!
If the company had invested money within that game then they would have lost amassive amount, Sony badly messed up the PS2's launch through lack of consoles and too many games at release, I dont think Sony was prepared for the launch in anyway, the preorder didn't work, even people who went through the precedure went guarenteed a console, and then walking into shops a week after launch you asked if they had any PS2's in stock the answer was sometimes 'yes', then they would say 'sorry you cant buy it, it has been preordered' (preordered to someone who obviously didn't want it.
The games at launch were mostly better then average games, but what SONY missed apart from consoles is a real killer of a game, even the Dreamcast had Sonic Adventure! With this game people would have been a lot more keen to buy a PS2 and hopefully Nintendo and Microsoft can learn from past mistakes and get really smooth releases and have UNMISSABLE launch games,
as that is what it comes down to, not the colour of the console but the colour of the games.
Thanks
