Can't be bothered to buy Norton or anything like that.

Does anybody have a good free firewall that they could recommend me?

Or use both, because afterall, a hardware firewall will not stop annoying programs getting access to the internet when you don't want them to.

Zonealarm isn't too bad, although you might want to stop it popping up alerts every time you get port-scanned. Plus it will royally screw up your LAN, if you have one.

ZoneAlarm is gay. It loads up on startup with a splash screen and slows your computer down loads.

Get a hardware firewall instead.

I think it is wrth buying Norton Firewall, you know it is safe then and if it mess' up your computer you can get your money back and have a right go at Symantech

Ive heard about something along the lines of Sygate or something like that.

Good free firewalls don't exist because they are, after all, firewalls.
