There's probably a lot of talent trapped under the current industry, one day someone will lift the lid and it'll take over.

Yes i have 'bothered' to listen to much Uk Hip Hop. On that new music channel UXX or whatever it's called they have alot of new english hip hop artists video's on there and not alot of them have impressed me. Sorry but i don't like them and prefer the american artists if that's ok by you?

I know he isn't part of the scene. My point was the only english rapper who's consistently made records that i like has been Slick Rick.
So anyway. lalakersrule, have you bothered to listen to much UK hip hop before writing it all off? And yeah, Slick Rick was great but he's not exactly part of the UK scene so we're not counting him. The american accent is a bit of a giveaway for a start.

I didn't say anything about anyone being good or bad. I ain't no moral absolutist. Just that the world is be a better place without certain people.
Someone who abducts and abuses children? I'm not getting into apportioning blame, but I wouldn't be sorry about it if that person wasn't alive, whatever the psycological roots of his behaviour.
There are surely reasons why Hitler turned out the way he did, and some people may well justify his behaviour and say he wasn't 'bad'. Everyone is shaped by their genetics, family and their environment to some extent - we don't chose to be the people we are. But that doesn't mean that it mightn't have been better for millions of Jews, Slavs and millions of others if Hitler wasn't around in the 30's and 40's.
Notions of good or evil have nothing to do with it.

No. It's at the point where, with a large American influence, it could evolve into something almost as big as the US industry.
The only problem is there seem to be more MCs than emcees, if you see what I mean.
Also, theres a group called Klassenhoff or something, I think they were british, and they are good.

The way I see it, everyone either has a reason for what they do or an excuse for it.
No person is bad - when Bin laden was born, he was no different to you or me.
And he didn't raise himself, and he hasn't shaped himself into what he is today.
So I have a small amount of sympathy for every single person in the whole of existence.
> Has anyone here got any interest in UK hip hop?
An interest in seeing it end quickly yes. For me there's only ever been one english rapper that has been any good and that was Slick Rick but even then he spent most of his childhood in America anyway. Although Dizzee Rascal is interesting me at the moment.

Really? I wouldn't wish harm on anyone, but I do happen to think that there's lots of people the world would be better off without. And I don't think there's much wrong with saying that. From Bin Laden, to people who use violence against others to get their own way even just down to petty people who make themselves feel good by putting others down.
I'm not saying I want any of them them dead, I'm just saying I wouldn't exactly be sorry if the world lost another moron, thug, mysoginist, racist, homophobe, Big Brother contestant etc etc.
> Has anyone here got any interest in UK hip hop?
A slight interest yes, the Westwood tapes are fairly good.
> And has anyone heard the new Gang Starr LP?
It's been recommended to me by two friends, I'm guessing its good.
> Tupac was an idiot
I recommend a bulletproof jacket, they look so much better than the vests :-D
> sub-standard rapper. He was a much better actor than an emcee,
I think you've missed the point, Tupac was an excellent rapper in my point of view anyway, but to appreciate him you need to listen to the sogns in detail and understand a bit about his background, and he shines through as something of an oddity - a badboy LA thug, who isn't afraid to open his soul and bears no shame to his feelings.
> much better corpse than a human being.
Thats actually quite harsh, I would barely say that about someone like Bin Laden.
And has anyone heard the new Gang Starr LP? I haven't managed to pick it up yet and was wondering if it's up to their usual standards.
I'm currently waiting for the new J-Zone album to be delivered which should be awesome. I can't believe people sleep on this stuff then keep going on about sodding gangster rap. Tupac was an idiot and a sub-standard rapper. He was a much better actor than an emcee, and a much better corpse than a human being. And don't even get me started on Snoop. Is anyone out there into more underground stuff like Aesop Rock, Mountain Brothers, K-otix, Sage Frances, Blackalicious, Styles of Beyond etc?
