Apparently you can join one of "The Houses" and have a stronghold/house of your own.
Any idea where and how?
The House Redoran is best for Fighter's Guild, and seeing as that's me, anyone know or done this?

I want my own house where I can hang pictures and not pick things up for days.

Bloodmoon is definitely worth the asking price, in my opinion at least.

The bears and wolves are fairly weak, but there are some incredibly tough foes to be found. Apparently, even characters at ludicrously high levels (30-50 or higher) will be challenged in places.

Question for Goatboy and the rest of you that are using the PC version... do any of you use any plugins with Morrowind?

There are quite a few on the official Morrowind website (www.elderscrolls.com) and many, many more on unofficial websites. Some of them are very good, too. One I'm using at the moment is 'Illuminated Order'. It adds a new faction to the game, and the faction is based on uncovering the secrets of necromancy, vampirism, werewolves, liches, etc. It's very good, and it's free. Well worth getting.

Yup. Everything I've said about strongholds applies to the Xbox version.

Tell me about it.
In the pub, I was trying to obtain quests from strangers and trying to give them 10 gold to be more friendly.
One was extremely friendly, but he used a potion on me that made me feel dizzy and then sick and robbed my memory the next day.

I was going to get Bloodmoon until I realised that my Morrowind addiction was becoming a problem. Spent Wednesday evening with a lovely young lady and kept wanting to press ctrl + space to see what she had in her pockets.

Yeah, but I've only played a fraction of the add-on. It's worth it if you want to be a Werewolf.

Got Bloodmoon the other day and had a quick play last night: the snow is great and the overall ambiance of being in a tundra is fantastic. Not sure about the general threat from the wildlife as wolves were hewn into pelts in one swipe and bears don't fare much better. The Durgh was also a weak booger.

Werewolves on the other hand may well be a challenge. Want to become one myself and play the rest of the game attempting to live undetected with my Lycanthropy. A challenge of epic proportions methinks.

And yes Snuggly it is geeky.

Geeky but fun.

Unlike maths.

You get your own stronghold once you're a fair way up the House in question. What will happen is that someone will mention how you can get your stronghold built. You'll then need to buy a building contract (I believe it costs 10,000 gold), and then wait for construction to be completed. You also have to hire guards for your stronghold - you'll be told where to find suitable candidates.

The building takes around 2/3 weeks of game time, if I remember correctly. Once finished, you have your very own stronghold. It's like a 'manor' or equivalent big dwelling of the House in question - i.e, if you chose Telvanni it'll have the same style as the buildings in Sadrith Mora. It'll be surrounded by a stone wall, and manned by your guards & other staff. Inside there will be a few furnishings and decent items lying around - all yours.

And whilst I'm here.... Bloodmoon first impressions.

Arrived at the Imperial fort on the island of Solsthiem today. Seems quite impressive. Missions so far are well varied and quite interesting. Much better than 'Go here, get this, come back' which you see a lot in the rest of the game. My first task was to sort out the problem of low troop morale caused by the troops not having enough alcohol (I empathise with their problem). Next up I was sent on a mission to deal with some smugglers - and that's when I realised how tough some of the enemies here are going to be. I had my rear end repeatedly handed to me on a plate faster than you can say "Feeds a family of four".

After many reloads I eventually dispatched them, and returned - only to find that in my absense the fort had been attacked, the wall demolished and the captain missing!

So I went exploring. I saw bears, wolves, artic seals, and groups of unfriendly people lurking in groups in the snow like angry teenagers (so I kiled them). I also saw what looked like a wild boar being ridden by some unknown figure. I'll have to give that another look later.

The snow and ice really is quite impressive, as is the terrain. Hills, trees, rivers, etc. It's all more atmospheric than the mainland. As I wandered north, the river even became frozen over. I went swimming under the ice, and found a magic staff. Nice.

I eventually found my way to a Nord settlement, and started doing tasks for them.

On the second day, I had a run in with some Skeleton Beserkers. And there was much reloading. Seriously, these guys are tough. I'm only a fairly weak level 10 rogue at the moment, but I'm fully kitted out in glass armour, with a glass longsword and an ebony tower shield enchanted with constant effect restore health 5 pts. I can't hope to match these guys.

After the umpteenth attempt at slaying one of the aforementioned skeletons, I had to concede. I defiantly declared that should he strike me down, I would become more powerful than he could possibly imagine.

So he smote me mightily on the head, and I fell to the ground and vanished (Used a potion of recall, took me back to Balmora).

So far, I've yet to venture outside of the safe areas in Bloodmoon after dark, and I've yet to see any werewolves. I've barely scratched the surface, but I'm very impressed do far. I'd estimate that the landmass added with Bloodmoon is something appraoching 1/5 of the size of Morrowind - and from what I've seen it is absolutely packed full of detail. The only thing is, you do need to be a powerful character to get very far. I reckon you'll need to have upwards of at least 150-200 health points, and some seriously impressive kit to hold your own in the icy lands.

I might stay on the mainland until I'm a little stronger, or I might take my level 36 fighter character over to exact some revenge. I'm undicuded yet.

And then I'll have to find out about becoming a werewolf...
