I wonder if the 19 years passed by him in an instant. Like, he's in the crash, is knocked out, then instantly wakes up in a hospital bed 19 years later.

Or did it all pass by him at normal speed, so-so slowly?

That happens to so many people, they probably pull the plug all the time when the patient could wake up. He was probably one who showed some brain patterns or movement and they thought he could make it.

Good job they didn't pull the plug really. After 18 years I'd be thinking, "Hmm, doesn't look like he's gonna come round any time soon".
