I think it's high time we adopted the US's "three strikes" policy - get charged 3 times and you get life - , and introduced zero tolerance policing across the country, and lowered the age where we believe children are responsible for actions to about 5.

If you can throw bricks from bridges and shoplift then I personally don't give a toss how old you are.

An enigma. A sudden thought in the head that evaporates when touched upon. A strange entity. And a reasonable master of deduction and guile.

The Unbeliever is a jack of all trades. I see my amateur dabbling in mind reading is going according to plan.

Yeah, that's what I thought. It seems absurb. Surely the best option would be sentences based on the frequency and severity of the crime?

In the Victorian ages, people could be executed for stealing a loaf of bread. Does anyone want to go back to those times of an unfair and unjust judicial system?

By this logic, a shoplifter is as much of a criminal as rapist. I don't need to spell out how wrong that is.

Too true.
I blame the parents. It’s like the many things I hear about in my brothers/sisters school nowadays. The disrespect that many kids have nowadays towards their teachers and their school is nothing short of disgusting, and even though I hear so much about it, it still saddens me. Kids talking back, not listening to teachers, being rude towards other pupils and even teachers, being violent and aggressive towards pupils, behaving unruly, vandalising school property and basically behaving worse than animals. It makes me wonder what it will be like in a few years time. But on the whole I’d say the problem rests with parents not bringing up their kids in the proper way.

I don’t really remember being brought up being told specific things about respecting other people, other religions, not to litter etc, yet I learnt them non the less (possibly from going to a good church school which taught me not how to be a churchy, but to have a churchy-style attitude towards life), and I was also shown a good example by my parents on how to behave and act towards my fellow people and the world around me.

I know the difference between right and wrong, yet it seems so many others don’t, and the sad thing is that it doesn’t seem like it’s going to change anytime soon. I see so many parents of infant age kids walking home ignoring their children, busy chatting to their friends. The kids (between about 5-8 years old) are allowed to run like headless chickens along busy main roads, often very far ahead of their parents shouting and screaming and basically being unruly.
That’s where the problem starts, and the kids just carry on from there doing whatever they want.
