Bit of Philosophy for you
The Bible claims God is:
All powerful (omnipotent)
All knowing (omniscient)
All loving
everywhere at once (omnipresent)
However because of the existence of pain the bibles version of god can only be three of the four things.
either Gods not all powerful (eg. can't stop pain)
not all knowing (doesn't know how to stop all pain)
not all loving (he couldn't care less)
not everywhere at once (cannot get to everywhere pain is)
What do you reckon? I don't exactly believe in God but its an interesting discussion.

'man' is translated from the hebrew for human and the phrase 'created in his own image' is a rough traslation for the original, which was that God created humans in the image that was his making. It has also been taken to mean that he created humans with the same sense of moral right and wrong.
I can understand people debating the Bible and its many faults, but please take at least a little time to research before you do. It will pay off, researching the Apocrypha is an eye opener and completely changes what you read in some of the old testament stories.

For instance, God supposedly created man in his own image (man being the human race), and yet we have two sexes. God couldn't be both at the same time, so he couldn't have created us in his image.

Heh. You can prove and disprove anything about everything using the bible. It's been mistranslated from Hebrew to Greek to Latin to English; frankly I'm surprised that any of the original text remains...
Some christians basically say that all the pain and suffering in the world is a part of God's unfathomable plan. Others say that the devil is in fact the servant of God who punishes the wicked. Still others claim that although God has all of these powers, he chooses not to exercise them as that would negate mans gift of free will.

But doesn't pain have some sort of thing to do with living and stuff. If you don't get pain then you're not really living or something. As God is to love his/her/it's people thenby allowing them to live a life he is showing them that he/she/it loves them.
There is some sort of point in the above but I'm not sure what. My head feels all floopy so there. I'm sure that someone with more knowledge of the bilble and stuff will know of something that makes it all work.
