I really do fancy Southampton.
Just chat about it here as it happens, any controversy, fantastic goals, and dodgy decisions.
Would they be as bothered if we had the same amount of Dutchmen, or, err, Japanese players?
And anyway, people only take notice of how many French players we have because:
1) We're a decent team
2) It just so happens that our most influential players are French, which makes them more noticeable.
3)We have more English players than French, but our French players are BETTER, which is why they play - simple really, eh?
4)If Cygan goes, our French players are: HENRY, VIEIRA, WILTORD and PIRES. That's four French players. FOUR. Look at Bolton or Fulham, they have more. Cygan didn't get a start that often, because he's naff.
5) English players: SEAMAN, CAMPBELL, KEOWN, COLE, PARLOUR, JEFFERS, TAYLOR. Plus the 3 or 4 coming up from the Academy, for once. And I admit, Aliadiere is French.
But, to be honest, it's a poor way of 'insulting' Arsenal.
Wouldn't you rather have more players of the same nationality, to avoid language barriers, and to speed up the 'fitting in' process, rather than bring in players from all over the world, like Chelsea?
My mate, an Arsenal fan, was telling me about some pre-season matches they have. Then I came out with, "Then they're going to France, so their fans can actually see them play."
I rule...no?
> lol went back to school today and all the Arsenal supporters were
> laughing at me its so unfair :(

Laugh at them.
Their team is French.
We (Saints) could have been 1 - 0 down and down to 10 men in the first 30 secs if Mr Henry had decided to fall to the floor instead of dragging Claus half way down the pitch on his knees.
As I was at the match and at the wrong angle to see the Cole save I really didn't know what had gone on, got out of the ground and back into the pub and alot of people were saying it was handball, still wasn't sure but obviously too late by then.
Got back to the hotel in Bristol and saw a woman in the bar who was a Saints supporter but didn't goto the match and watched it on TV, she immediately said it wasn't handball and that it had come off of Cole's thigh....all in all, Saint's fans are obviously disappointed at the result as we knew we stood a good chance of winning. Arsenal were there for the taking but it wasn't to be.
The fans should be proud of the way they conducted themselves and to hear the bloke doing the announcements in the stadium to say "Southampton fans deserve a round of applause for staying behind during the presentation and have been the best fans in the last three years" was fantastic.
Arsenal fans have become complacent, to them it's "just another away trip", they sang when they scored and during the last 5 mins of lets play keepey ball but apart from that, not a sausage, you've lost your passion and I'm glad I'm a Saints fan and was proud to be amongst some of the best supporters in the premiership!
Like Houllier said Mid-season: Don't worry that we're not converting the chances; but worry if we don't create them (or something like that).
We found out to our cost though, that those words don't neccaserally(sp) help.
But even if it was Man United, I'd still feel as though a lot of work would need to be done over the Summer, to ensure that we were not to watse so-many chances in one-match, ever again.
