Thatcher's Britain was a nightmare, full on and without argument.
It's easy to be "steely and determined" when it costs you nothing personally, and it's easy to forget that the actions she took ended with many being financially crippled.
I'm old enough to remember plenty of what went on. And, quite honestly, I don't recall anything particularly "great" about Britain at the time, or indeed, following her.
While I really admire her steely determination and iron will around the Derbyshire / Nottinghamshire area I think most working class people will be glad to see her go as she destroyed industry and people's lives around here in the mid-80's, especially the coal mines.
I might have only been 5 or 6 but I still have memories of the effect it had on the area at the time, and certain areas are still feeling it to this day.
However I think at the time we really needed someone as headstrong and determined as her to grab the country by the scruff of the neck and drag it kicking and screaming into making itself great again.
I think she was a good PM and did what was necessary at the time for the long-term good of the country, but I think if I'd been 20 years older my views would be radically diferent.
Here's some of her best quotes:
1. If you want something said, ask a man. If you want something done, ask a woman. (Speech, 1965)
2. To those waiting with bated breath for that favourite media catchphrase, the U-turn, I have only one thing to say: You turn if you want to. The lady’s not for turning. (Conservative Party Conference, October 1980)
3. There’s no such thing as society. (Interview, September 1987)
4. I am extraordinarily patient, provided I get my own way in the end. (Interview, April 1989)
5. We have become a grandmother.(March 1989, on the birth of her first grandchild, Michael Thatcher.)
6. Defeat? I do not recognise the meaning of the word. (At the start of the Falklands conflict, April 1982)
7. Rejoice.(Her reaction on the news that British Forces had retaken South Georgia from the Argentines in April 1982.)
8. My policies are based not on some economics theory, but on things I and millions like me were brought up with: an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay; live within your means; put by a nest egg for a rainy day; pay your bills on time; support the police. (Interview September 1981)
9. Pennies don’t fall from heaven – they have to be earned here on earth.(Lord Mayor’s Banquet, November 1979)
10. No one would remember the Good Samaritan if he’d only had good intentions; he had money as well. (TV interview, January 1980)
11. I might have preferred iron, but bronze will do. It won’t rust. And, this time I hope, the head will stay on. (Unveiling of statue to herself in the House of Commons, February 2007)
12. On my way here I passed a local cinema and it turns out you were expecting me after all, for the billboards read “The Mummy Returns”. (Conservative Election Rally, May 2001)
13. I never hugged him, I bombed him. (While watching old TV footage of Tony Blair embracing Colonel Gaddafi, at a reception in House of Commons, March 2011)
14. Where there is discord, may we bring harmony. Where there is error, may we bring truth. Where there is doubt, may we bring faith. And where there is despair, may we bring hope. (Statement on the doorstep of No 10 after her election as PM, May 1979)
15. A man may climb Everest for himself, but at the summit he plants his country’s flag. (Tory Party Conference, October 1988)
16. It’s the Labour Government that have brought us record peacetime taxation. They’ve got the usual Socialist disease - they’ve run out of other people’s money. (Tory Party Conference, October 1975)
Anyone else having problems?

How 'leftover' were the potatoes?
You have many muscles in your foot, which one needed the fresh air and exercise? Or are you referring to your children who should have been well active seeing as they're on their Easter jollies[/i]
Hah, the kids.
But my foot just got worse. Looks like metatarsalgia so I'm supposed to rest it.
