TezChi, The Smiler is good, but you really need to ride it in the dark. Went on it when park first opened, then again about 8pm, there was actually quite a noticeable difference (the only ride I have ever really thought that about). It may lack the pure speed of the likes of Oblivion and Nemesis but it makes up for it with an insane amount of twists, turns and loops, you come off it feeling like you have just come out of a washing machine! Definitely worth checking out IMO.
pb, there is a monument located at the entrance of the park made out of bits of the Corkscrew. Other than that, all the rides you mentioned have gone to the great theme park in the sky. I miss The Thunderlooper, that was a great ride :(
The horror mazes were good this year, they are all much of a muchness but still fun. We tried unsuccessfully to get the actors out of character, even when you spot them walking around the park. They are very good to be fair.

I can't remember when it was I went to Alton Towers (I've been twice) but they still had The Mouse , the Beast, Corkscrew and The Black Hole back then.

Dentist done for another 6 months. My teeth were fine, but our youngest had to have a small cavity filled, so need to keep an eye on that.
