Evening all ...

Have spent all week with my Probate solicitors trying to get a HMRC form correct! They had all the original information and sent by email the completed form for me to check. On four occasions, information was incorrectly stated and subsequent amendments were worse! I even was sent the HMRC form for another deceased client! Now this contains all his details, financial affairs and his spouse's address!

Any comments ;¬)

Afternoon ...

Just back from 'house clearance' phase 1. Surprising how big a van you need just to shift 'stuff'!

Morning.

Zavvi have told me that I'll be in the next issue of their magazine with my YouTube Unboxing of their Zbox. My youngest is pretty happy that she's going to be in it too. To be honest, it wasn't the best video and I've been playing around with improving them since, but it's nice to know they liked it.

I used to have that feeling when I was on call. I'd get a call at something like 4am from someone who was wide awake and just launched into the list of problems. I couldn't remember my name at that point let alone where I worked.

At least it's dry outside so far today. Was expecting torrential rain, but that might come later...

I didn't get the virus, this was one of the girlfriends' friends laptops - I presume it was from some site hosting streams of the non-legal variety and one of the pop-up ads contained within. A nice bit of ransomware that takes over the computer unless you pay a fine for your illegal activities to "Cheshire Police" through an untraceable source in Ukash. A more sophisticated version of it was released late last year which disables Safe Mode (it immediately shuts the computer down if it's attempted to boot in Safe Mode) which of course makes it that much more of a pain to get rid of. There was also countless types of Adware on there, Adblocker would often block 11 adverts showing up merely on booting Chrome.

All in all it was pretty horrendous.

Hope your Daughter-in-law is feeling better soon, DL. Our office is sounding a little like a hospital at the moment with all the coughing, sneezing and spluttering going on. I'm trying to think positive thoughts!

Not heard of that one HF ... but seems an 'ar*ehole' to remove! How did you get infected then?

Daughter-in-law has just gone sick with a chest and ear infection ... seems to be a lot going around. Best wishes for a speedy recovery :¬)

Afternoon everyone,

My sleeping pattern has gone to pot - have had a chest infection since pretty much just before new year and the inability to get to sleep until I collapse (there or thereabouts) means that I'm getting up at about 1PM, and it's only getting later as the week gets on - so that's enjoyable in my first week back.

I've also spent almost the last 24 hours getting through a laptop that was riddled with viruses, the new updated Cheshire Police Ukash scam is not exactly fun to remove!

Hope everyone else is well

Right, time to change my avatar to a non-Christmassy one and take down the decorations.
