Morning.

Lots to do again today.

Got one small set of lights up outside yesterday. Not brought the box of decorations in the house yet as I'm not ready to put up the Christmas stuff.

Afternoon.

Busy day, lots of parcels delivered and selling my old PC today, so there will be more room in my study eventually, but less as the boxes pile up for Christmas.

Morning,

just have the morning to suffer and then I'm off work till Tuesday. My little holiday nearly started early as I couldn't get the front door to the office open.

Morning/Afternoon.

Washing Machine repair guy came, the second one to arrive the week after the first, who had ordered new parts. Straight away he span the drum and declared the barrings had gone and the first guy should have really spotted that straight away (especially as we'd shown him a bit of a seal that we found in the filter).

So now they won't do the repair as it's not economically viable. Yey, paying for a new washing machine just before Christmas, with all the presents to pay for as well. Oh great.

My Old Rover had a go at being a boat during big floods we had 14 or so years ago. Still ran ok but the body immediately started to turn to rust, so that was the end of that.

Current car leaks from an unknown place but only enough to make the carpet damp in the back and hasn't done it for ages.

My 'new' but only a 12 plate had 'coolant' problems ... expansion bottle needed checking daily! Checked twice by garage and 'fixed' ... I still checked expansion bottle. One Sunday morning, recently, had driven for a couple miles locally and arrived home. Mrs DL wanted to then go into town, some 6 miles away ... until, what I suspected all along but not the garage, the driver's carpet was swimming in coolant!! Heater radiator joints had gone! The design has now changed and a new heater radiator has been fitted. Didn't cost me anything ... but the passenger carpet behind the driver's seat is still sodden as well ... !!!

Oddly, that's the same car where the heater radiator burst, showering my foot in scalding hot coolant...

Ok, this and what DL said make me think changing the car might be a better option than putting it in for a repair. I was hoping it was just a little seal somewhere, certainly plenty of water in the boot for some seals and a killer whale or 2.

My 1st car had some water issues and drenched the alarm. It also had a habit of spilling out via the sun roof when I went round a bend. The water always landed in such a place that I'd usually get out the car looking like I'd wet myself.[/i]

Yup, but my car was, at least, 20 years old by the time it became an issue. It would still be going now, if I hadn't sold it to my brother who, quite frankly, is a bit of an idiot.

He had one of his friends, a so called "Ford mechanic" look over the car because it was misfiring a little. This "qualified" individual told my brother that the engine had the wrong head gasket in it, and changed it for the "right one".

Two days later, my brother is driving the car up the A12, when all the pistons decided to hit the top together, shear off the cylinder head and spray all the engine oil out over the bonnet and wings.

Total write-off...

I tried to tell him that the engine had been running on the "wrong" head gasket since 1968, and all it actually needed was the timing tweaking, but...

Such fun and japes...

Well that is my concern and the £££ that comes with it.[/i]
