Yep, Japanese ones are far superior. If you're watching it a second time with mates who haven't seen it before it's good to have a mobile hidden and ring your home phone at just the right time!

Also forgot: BBCs Ghostwatch (now on DVD). It's brilliantly done and actually pretty scary.

And last years cinema hit Paranomal Activity, but you're better off finding the original version.

Yeh although i found REC predictable, Quarantine is absolutely dreadful. And the ending to REC is pretty nail biting (so don't watch the trailer)

Machie : DON'T WATCH THE QUARANTINE TRAILER !.

They stupidly put the final scene of the film in the trailer ! :S

As already mentioned the film is a very poor, pale imitation of the Spanish film it was based on.Seriously,REC is massively superior in every possible way.Can appreciate that its not for everyone but in my opinion its a great and very effective horror film.

I'll look for the trailer for Amytiville Horror and don't ask me why but I still haven't seen Poltergeist. It's suppose to be a classic.

Theres another movie awhile ago that I was interested in but can't remember the name. Something about keeping the scary guys in the house, or were they outside, I forget but I remember seeing the trailers on tv.

edit: on the subject of scary things to watch. Just saw a picture of Cheryl Cole, it looks like she's had her lips done and looks like trout face lesley Ash. I use to like her back on MBB.

Amytiville Horror is pretty tense. Worth a look?

REC seems to have a high score on IMDB. I've not heard of it before though. Quarantine I'll have to check out the trailer. I'm really out of touch with movies as I've been so busy.

I'm still remembering ones like The Haunting* and House on Haunted Hill.

I remember watching this and asking, who the hell this guy is with the bent nose, I don't like him. turns out it was owen wilson. seems like a decade ago.

edit: oh cool will check those out pb. I think I only saw one Ring. These are the Japanese ones right not the American ones? My girlfriend doesn't want to watch the Japanese ones with me and I guess I should be careful too because she has long black hair. Scary lah!

Asian films:

Ju-on - brilliant scary film, US remake isn't all that great despite having the same director.

Dumplings - more subtle but brilliantly written.

The Ring, Ring 2 and Ring O - By the third one you won't really know what's going on, but you've got to watch all three!

Italian:
Dario Argento's Suspiria is a classic from the Italian horror director.

Spanish:
The Orphanage (2007) - good twist.
REC - great zombie film.
The Baby's Room - Great little creepy movie.

Wierd ?,I thought The Grudge was a big steaming pile of crap but thought REC was one the best and most effective horror films of the last few years, thought it was one hell of a ride.US remake Quarantine was garbage though.Who the hell was the woman in that film ?,there was some serious overacting going on there.I was thinking for gods sake will some mental infected zombie please just rip her throat out she's doing my head in !.
