One of my previous jobs used to involve regular "team building" exercises, from extremely bizarre and non-sensical to boringly mundane.

One of the best was a day of paintball, during which I managed to "snipe" my area manager from the top of an old bus. The pellet hit him straight on the top of his shoulder, inside his shirt, instant bruise the size of a golf ball.

I laughed, he swore a lot. Not sure how much "team building" resulted from that particular incident.

I have never had the pleasure of paintball but I have seen the bruises it can leave.

I might have unfairly labelled this event as team building though. The word on the street today is that it was to see how good we are at our jobs. Ignoring the fact that all bar one of my office have been doing their job for well over a decade, I'm not clear how coming up with a business strategy for the production of a new beverage at a profit has any relation to my job of writing lines of code. I guess that's why I'm not a manager in this modern world where managers don't really seem to do any managing.

Morning,

it got quite warm here yesterday afternoon but I'm not sure it could be classed as a heatwave.

Morning.

The European heatwave seems to have missed us completely. Perhaps it's one of the things we've already lost in Brexit?

Still, dry and bright at the moment, so can't complain. Well, I can, but not about that. Brother is off to Zante today, think it's their third holiday this year. I'm still waiting for my first since 2012 but it's not going to happen this year.

Morning,

Toxic heatwave anyone? We've had 26C for the last few days and the only 'toxic heatwave' I've had is diesel fumes from our vans and trucks which is 365!

Wish that the 'school holidays' were finished here for good! My 31 yr old son is at home and hammers my broadband usage, but pays nothing ... AK47 will be forthcoming soon! Such a selfish person, but mummy loves him!

Back to trucks tmoz ... so watch the news regarding AK47's ;¬)

The living room TV died this morning but thankfully I took out extended warranty on it.

Morning,

management have decided it would be good if we have the pleasure of some sort of 'team building' exercise that we are meant to do in our own time. That's gone down well. I've declined the first meeting since it is my own time and I have something else to do.

We tried those years ago. These days we organise our own small team building groups, often also known as 'shall we pop down the pub at lunch time?'
