Really need to find something to do, other than DIY, though.
Just started yet another week 'covering holidays' ;¬) Mind you, not doing Wednesday, as I need to collect 5 bags of limestone chippings and they will be 10% cheaper on Diamond Day :¬D
DIY pb never stops when you have a wife or Mrs DL! ;¬)
A few more people trickling back in to the office. I need a break, though. Booking Friday off so I can have a long weekend and then got the rest of next week off. Really need to find something to do, other than DIY, though.
Tell them you'd be happy to do team building with your team if they send you another ticket for the US...
I'm trying this approach but from another angle. Customer is reporting a bug, I cannot replicate it, the QA dept cannot replicate it. I got a copy of the customer setup which seems to be the key component and still cannot replicate it. So I've suggested I go visit the customer and show them how not to get this error. They are in Colorado I believe.
Morning,
so this team building exercise seems to have sprung to life again. Great way to start a Friday. I shall continue to ignore for as long as possible. Afterall, I don't actually work for the UK office at the moment anyway.

I'm working from home, as is usual on a Friday. Just happens to be the only wet and miserable day we've had so far, which is typical.

Management jobs come up a lot here. The money would be useful but I'm not sure that I'm up for the role and managers are often the first in the firing line at the moment.
Never did see one of them dance though...
Glad you all seem to agree about 'manger status' ... drove me into an early grave ... but as you all know, I came back 'enlightened' as a minion who gives his time when he wants to ...
I did dance though, but badly according to Mrs DL ;¬)

No danger of that, management isn't for me. I think my direct manager should have said the same thing though.[/i]
Spoken like a true management candidate! ;-)
Strangely, I used to say much the same about my area/ regional managers... still 100% convinced I was right too! Most of them were like Ricky Gervais in The Office.

I have never had the pleasure of paintball but I have seen the bruises it can leave.
I might have unfairly labelled this event as team building though. The word on the street today is that it was to see how good we are at our jobs. Ignoring the fact that all bar one of my office have been doing their job for well over a decade, I'm not clear how coming up with a business strategy for the production of a new beverage at a profit has any relation to my job of writing lines of code. I guess that's why I'm not a manager in this modern world where managers don't really seem to do any managing.
Sounds exactly like some of the more bizarre team building exercises we had to go through. Totally irrelevant, completely off the wall, utterly useless. And to be fair, it's always about how good you are at your job, do you play nicely with others etc. and never about actual "team building". A night out with curry and beer would be better for that.
