Should have stayed in England, where only the dreaded snow can bring such chaos.

Hi guys, sorry for making you worry. I'm fine and my fiancees family are all okay. It's been complete chaos. We lost power, water, street lights, train service, bus service. The phones still arent working, but we do have Internet access now. I'll try to keep you all updated. We've had lots of smaller earthquakes since the big one. The last one about an hour ago. Hopefully there isn't another big one to come.

Really makes you feel powerless when this kind of thing happens. :(

Edit: We're in Soubudai near Zama and Machida in Kanagawa, Tokyo.

Looking at this 'map', SC, it doesn't really matter where he's staying...the majority of Japan is affected :¬(

I just saw pictures on the news of the Quake and Tsunami, it's a horrible thing to watch.

It's when things like this happen you realise how trivial your own problems are, and how it's too easy to take everything for granted.

I hope Machie is fine and is well clear of the affected area.

Pretty amazing how much of a pounding parts of Japan have taken in such as short time.

Checked Machie's initial post about moving to Japan. Can't see any details as to where about he's staying.

Google's crisis page looks useful: Japan Quake

Extremely useful link Hmmm.....very informative, yet very harrowing especially the 'real-time' info from Twitter. Did use the people search option for Machie but returned no matches .... perhaps a good thing or perhaps far too early to tell :¬(

The news from Japan has been unfolding all day, the disaster has been horrific. Has anyone heard anything of Machie yet?
