Haven't had much experience with LG, but for the money they look pretty good in the shops. Plus their factory makes the panels for a lot of other TVs too. On par with Samsung I reckon.

Just make sure it's 1080p and stretch to LED backlit if possible.

Hiddenwingz, I have a 46'' full HD Panasonic plasma and a 32'' LG LCD.The Panny is in a different league but did cost a hell off a lot more. The LG (for a budget(ish) set) is actually surprisingly good, especially for games but for sport and films it just cannot live with the plasma. If you are looking a budget set the LG's are worth considering in my experience.

Thank you both for the contributions! Very much appreciated.

We were looking at a Bush version until I found some bad reviews. Looks like it will be easier to look instore rather than searching online, so a trip to the nearest retail park is needed!

Happy Birthday to your youngest pb. Hope you all have a good day!

Morning, by the way.

It's the 5th birthday of our youngest today, so we're going out this morning. Lots of other people seem to be going to some kind of wedding thing, not sure what that's all about...

For those not bothered about colour reproduction, viewing angle etc, the Supermarket brands are fine and offer a cheap way into HDTV.

For anyone else who wants a good picture, no ghosting or blur during fast motion (particularly on football action and motor-racing) and for game playing, a decent set is a must.

For me, the top sets are from Panasonic, Sony and Samsung, in that order. However, I've gone with Sony because I just couldn't afford the Panasonic with the features I wanted and the Sonys work well with other Sony equipment.

HiddenWingz, I think you'll find shopping for the new TV quiet a pleasant experience. A good size set is pretty cheap these days, I'm always amazed how much I payed during the heyday of HDTV's. I'd stay to known makes though obviously, I'm always sceptical about those supermarket/unbranded sets.

Exams are over (as of Tuesday lunch time), finally got round to writing a new review and completing the Portal 2 multiplayer (albeit obviously locally). Virtua Tennis 4 has also arrived (Thanks very much Freeola), although I'll be "properly" free for a bit of writing following the finishing of my project writeup (which will be Tuesday).

Only know a few Pendulum songs, thanks to the Formula One race edits. Finally decided to get a different T.V after having the same one for nearly 10 years. Just have to figure out where from, which kind and what size etc... Going to be a fun hunt!

I picked probably the only Pendulum song you don't actually like, what were the chances of that? :(

Actually I didn't care that much for Tarantula (Serial Killer Mix) that much either.
