The Americans just pulled down the statue of Saddam in Baghdad with the blessing of the Iraqi people.
Quite extraordinary. The Iraqis started it, hitting it with sledgehammers, then the Americans came and pulled it down with an armoured veichle. and hung the old Iraqi flag on it.
When it was down the Iraqis lobbed rocks and boxes and things at it and were chanting "death to Saddam".
Interesting events...

I'm sure much of that is to do with reasons of what would be good and bad taste rather than propaganda.
Remember they also 'failed' to show the photos found at the police station, which showed the results of the torture carried out there.

didnt quite understand this paragraph. Anyway if you were brought up in a corrupt civilisation where you are forced to work 12 hour days 365 days a year with no holidays and made to sing a song in school about how good Saddam is i'm sure you would take your chance at looting the harbour. I mean cant really blame them. Thats why the US are building up Iraq's infrastructure with regards to law and order as well i mean "he told people that the schools would open, and thats exactly what happened, everyone went back to school", shows what the US have done already in Um Qasr. Not sure if i'm typing this in a sarcastic way, i just dont know anymore.
Although this was right before they went a looting.
Anywho, I bet they were hoping that the statue was a secret hiding place of Saddam. They'd pull it down and he's be standing on the pillar looking a little silly.
The things I think of .....
Did you notice that whenever Iraqis display their agresision, they take off their shoes and beat things with them. The statue, Saddam posters, American tanks in some cases.
In this country people would at least have baseball bats. Probably flick-knives, broken bottles, petrol bombs and a few mortor rounds tucked up their sleeves.
But, or so it seems, in Iraq - shoes are the people's choice.
Imagine it "Whoa, back up man. He's got a shoe!"
"That right you motherf*ckers, stay back. Back I say! Back!"
Or could it be a religious thing. They've got to take off their shoes before they go into pray, so maybe they're a sign of disgust. Something like that.
Makes a little more sense

Or shot as there was "gun fire" coming from that direction. I support the war but believe some things are just too coincidental to believe. Shame the press don't show the horror of some families and the real death and destruction that bombs cause. Would at least make it fair. Oh yeh forgot that we watch American and US news stations, sorry.

Yes, a whole TWO people, who soon disappeared - probably lynched by the rest of the crowd!
There is a reason behind this.
In Iraq, hitting someone with your shoe is one of the worst things you could possibly do to someone.
Quite amusing considering the things Saddam has done...
Massive explosions. Very big.

No, I got it right. The "Human Shields" bit was already on the banner, whereas the rest was scrawled on in red paint afterwards.

Funnily enough you've missed out the crucial part "Go home. Human shields. You US w*****s".
I think the "Human Shield" part is the bit you should be aiming at! Plus it should also have said UK w.....s
