I can't decide between English Language at AS level, of English Lit at A level.

If anyone here took either and could give me their thoughts on it, that would be most helpful.

The other subjects I'm taking are:
Philosophy
Pyschology
Biology
Photography

All full A levels.

I like writing (creative), so I want to expand my vocabulary and enhance whatever style I might have, I don't like analysing poetry or writing essays on Injustice and Misunderstanding in Silas Marner.

They may seem to point obviously towards English Language, but Lit is a better qualification to have, and probably covers most of the writing technique that would be involved in Language.

Any thoughts?

General studies is just cobbled together with questions on what is going on stuff like global issues. There's also a science part - it was pretty easy but the whole thing is useless. Everyone in our college has to do it-we don't choose it as a subject. The college (and teahers) just gets extra money for doing it. The majority of my uni acceptance letters all clearly state that you do not need general studies grades, so there really isn't much point.

I did English Lit - very good it was as well. You study lots of old classics and you'll get to see them in the theatre. Plus, your vocabulary range and wordly knowledge increases...

I did English Lit for A Level, and given a good choice of books, that's the one you should go for.

I started sixth form doing four 'A' levels, going in with straight A's in my GCSE's.

But poor teaching and selection let me down.

I was expected to get straight 'A's in A Level too.,

Ended up with a B, E, N, and a C

(The rather sad thing is that the first three spell my name...

N was in maths. Because of two teachers, one of which wasn't even a maths teacher (he also taught me computer science - the B) and the other one had such a monotonous voice that I fell asleep in a few of his lessons.

Philosophy is something I've really wanted to do, so ner :P

I think I'll do Lit as an AS, although my application form for sixth form is now in pieces in the bin

Dress half-smart, but not so much that you look like an anally-retentie pr*ck. That's the 1st thing I learnt - Uni's are VERY relaxed.

I just turned up at an open day and they offered me a place on the course that had started 2 weeks previously.

Maybe I have a good bone structure or something, I dunno..
