I can't decide between English Language at AS level, of English Lit at A level.

If anyone here took either and could give me their thoughts on it, that would be most helpful.

The other subjects I'm taking are:
Philosophy
Pyschology
Biology
Photography

All full A levels.

I like writing (creative), so I want to expand my vocabulary and enhance whatever style I might have, I don't like analysing poetry or writing essays on Injustice and Misunderstanding in Silas Marner.

They may seem to point obviously towards English Language, but Lit is a better qualification to have, and probably covers most of the writing technique that would be involved in Language.

Any thoughts?

I'm doing Computing : ), Pyscology, Geography and English Language.
I've been told to be a Games Designer you'll need a more specified degree, so at A-Level I can do what I want, really. But Compting was needed, although that was the only one I was going to do anyway.
So much better than ICT *yawn*.

I've got my interview on Monday, so we'll find out then if I'm allowed in.

Agreed. I did exactly that in my Eng Lang AS exam and came out with a C, not bad.

I do Eng Lang at A-level now and to be honest, it's bullsh*t. Pick Literature.

Personally, I'd go for literature rather than language. You get taught just as much of the technical side of things with the added advantage of being given various (usually rather good) novels on which to hone the analytical techniques you will learn.

On the down side, you'll have to make an extra effort to get grammar correct, and you'll need to do it in your own time. But on balance, you will almost certainly get more out of Lit.

I chose Language because college teacher told me I could write creatively but no, I get to analyse speeches, poetry and other random crap.

It's pretty easy though, you just gotta go in and talk b*llocks for most of the lesson.

I'd go for the English Lit mate, thats what I took and although I wasn't sure I'd enjoy it, it was actually quite good! Who want's to study the language...

I mentioned it
Obviously you aren't familiar with St Martin's Sixth Form

We HAVE to take General Studies in year 12 AND 13

Reason? School gets money for it.
