So what will we find out in the next decade or so?
Did an alien spacecraft really crash at Roswell?
Do area 51 know more about UFO's and aliens then they like to admit?
The horrors of the Second World War.
Was the moon landing a hoax?
What about the things we will find out about in about 50 years?
Exactly what info did the Americans get before September 11?
Have the goverment already foiled a major terrorist plot in the UK?
Is Bin Laden still alive or have the US caught him?
Sorry, but I'm easily confoosled.
I remember now.
At the beginning of each year, the Public Record Office publishes government papers which have been kept secret for the past 30 years - under the "30 year rule".
But even after the New Year, some of the most sensitive documents will remain secret for several more decades - while others may never be fully revealed.
If a record is judged too sensitive by a government department then it can apply to "extend closure" until 40, 75 or even 100 years have passed.
This secrecy suggests there could be any number of buried files containing salacious secrets.
If a government department does want to keep documents secret beyond 30 years, it has to explain why to an organization.
I think it's called Pro, or something along those lines. I suppose that should be PRO actually.
A couple of years ago, the Parliament passed an act, Freedom of Information I think it was (actually, I checked :-D) which creates a statutory right for people to obtain internal documents held by public authorities.
It actually comes into force this year.
So, there you go.
Yes indeedy.
And Venom, I'm not sure.
I think it was some kind of law passed ages and ages ago, that was to inform the public of details of major events of the past.
The government enforces it I suppose, but there are checks made, to make sure that the info is legit.
> P S M A
So? What does that stand for then??
I can't see details of anything particularly significant being released, to be honest.
Welcome to the forums by the way.
