Subtitled When Harry Met Lloyd, New Line's solution to Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels' palming off a follow-up is to go the prequal route. Set in 1986, teen nobodies Eric Christian olsen (as Harry) and Derek Richardson (as Lloyd) will play the gruesome twosome, escaping their school's special needs department so they can graduate. Troy Miller directs.
ETA: Summer 2002

Well I was excited until I saw it was neither the orignal cast or crew. Could be good, probably won't but I just hope it doesn't taint one of my favourite films. Is out this Summer (don't know if that's USA, here or both) so I would guess there's a trailer out online now or soon.
*CRASH*
"I desperately want to make love to a schoolboy"
Lloyd to Mary.
"Tad! Tad, Lloyd! You drove a sixth of the way across the country, in the wrong direction! We haven't got enough money to go to Aspen, we haven't got enough money to go home, we haven't got enough money to eat, WE HAVEN'T GOT ENOUGH MONEY TO SLEEP!!"
Harry to Lloyd.
So many other classic scenes - Lloyd saying goodbye to Mary at the airport (sparks flew, emotions ran high), Lloyd bumping into Seabass in the toilet on March 25 2:15 am exactly, Harry doing an almighty sh*t only to find out the toilet's broke, Haryy whipping Lloyd with the cane (Time out!), lloyd "putting out the vibe", and Lloyd trying to help Mental.
Seen the film thousands of time and right up there on my all time lis**t. But without Carrey and Daniels, I'm not sure I'll warm to the new film.
Hell yeah!
I was reading someone's post about other ideas for a Dumb And Dumber sequal, and although he got replies like "Shut up!" he made some good suggestions. One of which was 'Dumb And Dumber 2: the Walk Home'. Now that, I think would be good. Just imagine what happened to them on that long way back and when they arrived home.
Also while on imdb.com I read up on the two actors who will be taking over as Lloyd and Harry. But sadly and not to my surprise, there wasn't much to be said about these young actors who have the weight of Dumb and Dumber perched on their shoulders.
First up Eric Christian and Harry Dunn. Here's his filmography:

He also appeared as John Mason (which is also the name of the school next to my college - This has been another fun CDouch fact!) in one episode of 24 (TV).
Next up is Derek Rishardson as Lloyd Christmas. You've never heard of him before, have you? That's because this is his first movie ever. It's not only his first film role, he hasn't been on TV and the number movie info site (www.IMDB.com) doesn't even have a picture of him! This is scary stuff, I hope the creators know what they're doing...
I also thought I'd check out the history of the director Troy Miller, and well...

Ok so a lot of experience which is good, but not much movie persific experience. Heh, just notest his first directing job (the last one on the list).
I would go into the writers too, but i feel this has gone on long enough. Despite an inexperienced cast and a director who works mainly with MTV TV shows, I still think and hope this could be quite good.
