My parents get the Mail (yes, they're that type of people) and I really enjoy reading it. It's hilariously old fashioned, always posting opinion as fact and taking sides in pointless arugments. The last week or so have been almost ENTIRELY devoted to the Blair scandal (which I still don't understand, as I refuse to read about it)

Anyway, today... they said LOTR The Two Towers is one of the greatest films ever made... What's wrong with that, you ask? Well, they also said that about the first LOTR film... and we all know how bad that turned out

Stupid Daily Mail

Boromir was Sean Bean yes.

And Sauron is the evil dark lord - the one they always supposedly go on about.

I think for introducing a whole new and incredibly detailed and complex world, they did a pretty good job.

Bormir, was he Sean Bean? Sauron? What's that?

I knew the ring had made Beany go mental, and try to kill the little midgit Frodo, but that was all

Anyway, in those three short paragraphs you explained the film's plot better than the entire film itself. Well done

He got power from the ring, even though he did not have it - without it he was stil the beasitest guy in the world.

The only place the ring can be destyored is Mount Doom, in Mordor.

Bormir gets a bit annoyed and beleives Frodo is taking it to Sauron (The ring is tricking his half-ideas into full ones)

Hence he dies.

Weren't they afraid the ring would fall into the hands of that evil dude? Didn't they then try and take the ring TO the evil dude (where he lived) so they could destroy it?! What's up with that? Some of it just didn't make sense, like why were they so scared of the guy when he didn't have the ring... I thought he got his power from the ring and... Well, basically, things weren't explained well enough for those who didn't have a CLUE what the books were about. If I'd been directing, not only would the film have been better, but I would've made sure not only the nerds would understand it. Oh, and I'd have got ILM to do the effects, so they'd be at least half decent

I love American Beauty.

Lord Of The Rings is really for the people who read it and actualy enjoyed it (me included).

The fact that the world created is centred on the ring, and the terror and destruction that could be unleashed if the Ring was captured is central. Therefore the ring is vitaly importnat. I agree the film perhaps alienated non-book readers, but it still holds magic for people who read and loved the books.

They did try to change it, but they evidently did not change it enough - as us story lovers would of got a bit annoyed!

American Beauty is a modern classic. It was an excellent and entertaining film with interesting dialogue. LOTR was "the ring this, the ring that"

It totally alienated anyone who hadn't read the books. I had enough trouble keeping up with what was going on, without them boring me to death every two seconds

What was boring about it?

Talking feautred heavily, and yet it was all good (to me anyway)

Opinion I suppose.

So is American Beauty bad for all its talking and very little action?

Not boring, pointless talk, though. Not more talking than anything else (apart from walking, perhaps)

Basically, LOTR was terribly boring. The term "paint drying" comes to mind...

The stroy is quality.

And Return Of The King will be the best film. Ever. Morodor, Battle Of The Pelennor Fields........ the Black Gate...... Mount Doom...... Mwhwhwahhaha!

And most, just about *MOST* films have a lot of talking in them.

Odd that.

I got bored with the book (the Fellowship), but apparently the next two are better. I can't wait to see The Two Towers, the first one was awesome.
