Anyway, today... they said LOTR The Two Towers is one of the greatest films ever made... What's wrong with that, you ask? Well, they also said that about the first LOTR film... and we all know how bad that turned out

Aren't you doing some kind of media/film making course ? Sure you aid you were but I might be thinking of someone else... It wasn't heavy in dialogue anyway, but the dialogue is what has the most weight in any film. SFX e.t.c may continue to improve, but the truly great films live by what is said in them, words live forever.
"Pity ? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. Not all who die deserve death, and not all who live deserve life, do not be so eager to meet out death to others" (may have a few words wrong but I'm tired)
"I will take the ring, but I do not know the way"
"You'll do okay"
"I'm sorry"
Those, and more, all stick in my head having watched it just twice, because words, and dialogue, matter.
Willow is crap, it was crap, and always will be crap.

Both the books (so I hear) and film are genius and really deserve to be apreciated, if your not willing to accept that then it's your lose. I understand that different people have different tastes and shouldn't be forced to like something and I hope it doesn't sound like i'm trying to force people into liking it. I would just prefer it if people don't like something they just say 'In my opinion....' but instead they have to make picks at the film and it's fans which isn't cool at all.
I have my tickets booked for next saturday night and can't wait for the next three hours of enjoyment. The first was a little slow starting off (which it had to be so people knew who was what, when, why and how) but The Two Towers will go straight into the action. Can't wait. Oh and how long is that battle...45 minutes? That is going to be amazing. My favourite scene in The Felowship has to be the battle near the end when (don't know character name...sorry) Sean Bean gets repeativly shot with the arrows. The action, acting, camera work, sound, music, emotion, everything is perfect and outstanding. If the new battle is half as good as that one, we're in for a treat. Can't wait.
I'm going to have to watch The Felowship again before I go, just to keep it fresh and help the flow into the next film. I'll watch it as soon as I finish the growing list of films I'm half way through; Waterboy, Office Space, MIB2 and something else...which I forget.

Shakespeare's plays are still relevant today for what they say, as is Lord Of The Rings. I mean come on, you're saying you've watched it and couldn't see how any of it was relevent whatsoever, even Gandalf's speech about pity, Bilbo talking to Frodo before the party ends, the whole theme of destroying one thing that could destroy all else, there's piles of things in there.

> Willow has aged excellently. Case closed
Your absolutly correct, Willow has aged fantastically well... its was trivial souless kack when it was originally released, and its trivial souless kack now... timeless! :)

"You really expect us to believe you are better than Peter Jackson ? Yeah right, wake up."
Um... I never said I was better than him (though I'm sure I am) I just said I could make a better film. Hell, my Drama teacher probably could've made a better LOTR than Jackson

That'd be one crap film you'd make then. You really expect us to believe you are better than Peter Jackson ? Yeah right, wake up.
Nerds eh ? Lord Of The Rings was voted the book of the century, it is probably the most read sotry after the Bible, yet it has been around a lot less. The story itself is brilliance, and as well as enjoyable is greatly relevant to the times today. Read the book, then watch the film.
American Beauty was good also, but I wouldn't say it was amazing or anything, kinda like Falling Down except the guy decides to obsess over his daughter's friend instead of going on a rampage. Good, but once you've seen it once it loses any rewatch value, whereas LOTR always has something new to notice, the world is so detailed and convincing. Basically, based on just the books and a few pre film illustrations, Jackson's team abd WETA created a world that few fans of the books could criticise. ILM are best sticking to Star Wars and such, especially as WETA could also provide more than just CGI and effects. Plus WETA was actually closer to the majority of the locations, whereas, if I'm not mistaken, ILM is primarily American based, which would have been great shipping that amount of gear to New Zealand, or setting up temporary construction areas on site.
