They are obviously different genres, but I'd compare them as two films, and when you do that LOTR wins hands down so far, even the trailers for Two Towers make the film seem better than Episode 2.

Starwars is a classic SCIENCE FICTION story, The Lord of The Rings is a classic FANTASY story, they are TWO different trilogys (or a pair of one and one of the other) which are in TWO different GENRES. Get my drift?

You obviously don't like Science fiction films as much as Fantasy ones simple as that, if you don't like Starwars why come in this topic?

You're right, Lucas got it back a bit with episode two, but its not much of a feat to be better than the phantom menace.

Armageddon is,without a doubt, a modern classic, as is Black Hawk Down :)

Phantom Menace was a bit crap, kinda a disneyfied Star Wars, I mean Anakin piloting the Naboo fighter at the end ? That was pure kiddy crap film material.

Lucas is getting past it, Peter Jackson is the new George Lucas.

Funny, I bought Episode 1 + 2 together (box set) and watched Episode 1 before #2... and it was actually a lot better than I remebered it being

But then that always happens to me, I re-watch a film I disliked and then liked it (I didn't like Armageddon at all, like most people, but now I rate it as a modern classic)
