I'm probably one of the nicest people you'll meet but I really hate a lot of people... I don't show my dislike in anyway, just don't like many people.

Yep that thought has been in my head for a few days

Here's my theory.

If there is a God, he would have told us what we needed to hear, not what we wanted, or even the truth.

God would have told us something, that would have made life worth living, or would have sorted the good from the bad.

So then if there was a heaven and hell, then people can be sorted and sent easily.

So let's just imagine for a second, that there is a heaven and a hell.

Let's imagine that God told us everything, not so we would live happily and die in the knowledge that we go to heaven... but to force people into showing their true colours, making it easier for Him to judge them.

What if, Christianity, as a religion, was created to start wars?

Think about it. Why would God care? Sure, you're his children, but when you die, you go to heaven. You're rewarded. Or you're sent to hell.

Some of God's angels rebelled against him, remember. He trusted his own creations and they turned on him.

Perhaps God isn't all powerful. Perhaps He just wrote that to spark something off in us. Perhaps he's just incredibly intelligent.

Will he send you to hell for not believing in him? Doubt it. But will he send you to hell for killing others? Will he send you to hell for being selfish? Most of us sin at some stage in our lives, but I'm sure God can see now, from what he did so late in our time on Earth, who good people are, and who bad people are.

And perhaps, just perhaps, a man, so desperate to change the world because of the state it was in, lied to people, told them he was the son of God, and desperately tried to make this world a better place. Yeah, perhaps he was a genius, but perhaps he shouldn't have bothered.

The only mistake he made, was that when someone decided to carry on his legacy, work it all out, discover that Jesus was just trying to change the world, nobody would listen to him. We've got to the point in the world, where no lone man can truly make a difference in this world.

Maybe because we don't try, maybe because there are too many, or maybe because we're fed up of listening.

Either way, there must be something left.

Or something like that.

I believe the topic was something to do with why cats and dogs hate each other ;-)

Basically, and no offence to Strafex here, his beliefs are his own, I believe in Creation for just one simple reason. It is my opinion that if I don't believe the first...literally the first page or so of the Bible, then I can't believe the rest of it.

What was this topic about again? :D

Not wanting to start a religious debate, but how do you explain a supreme being failing so miserably?

I mean, he supposedly tried to make it simple, but left enough room that fanatacists could counter any reasonable argument against it? Surely that only breeds fanatacism, rather than understanding.

No. By definition, religion needs a god (or something to worship) a holy item (usually a book or some form of writings) a set of beliefs by which people live their lives and a couple of other things. Atheism (is that what you'd call it?) is not a religion

I'm a Christian who believes in evolution...

I find it annoying how some believers take the bible too literally instead of realising that God simplified things so he could get the point through to the simple farmers he was trying to explain to.

Sure, he COULD have given them a lecture how he watched over them evolving over billions of years, or simply tell them out he created them and that they should respect/love/fear him and get the proper point through.

Not really. It's theoretically possible to accelerate an object through time using incomprehensibly large magnets and an orbiting spaceship moving near lightspeed.

That way, you could move forward years in time in only a few minutes.

However, you cannot use this method to backwards. You can't use any method to go backwards, and if you could, you could easilly create a paradox and screw up the universe.

Evolution will be proved if the human race is still around in a couple of millenia and has, y'know, gills and wings and stuff :D

As for time travel, travelling backwards more than your birth day would surely be impossible. You go forwards in time every day, getting older. Surely going backwards would make you younger, until you cease to exist?
