Bits mean hardly anything at all. The real power comes from the memory and processor.
Why do I keep repeating myself?
X-Box is a 32 bit system. Gamecubes main processor runs at 64 bit. Makes an iota of a difference.
Your pc may be faster, but your 733mhz cpu only runs on a 32 bit platform. The PS2 runs on a 128 platform.
1:Quick maths lesson : a 128 bit machine handles one hundred and twenty eight (128) bits of information at once.
2:Your 32 (thirty two) bit cpu handles 32 bits of informaton at once (mhz(the frequency )).
733 divided by 4(four) =183.25mhz
295 multiply by 4 = 1183mhz
And with reference to your unfortnate bodily dis-figuration (not looking right), stop eating those jelly donuts, do some exercise, and await the full extent of PS2.
You don't really think SONY would waist those billions of Yen (Japanese monies), look extremly stupid ( maybey like bot), and lose ?

You could be right; I do enjoy rich food.
are they (console manufacturers) REALLY making consoles like PCs?
The real reason that PCs suffer from this cycle of upgrades is that people put things like graphics card slots and sound card slots etc. in them.
Now, the PS2 DOES have an "expansion" port, to be used for a hard drive andbroadband connection device, so; will this create a problem where different levels of hardware exist?
Presumably Sony will have to licence third party products for this port; this could create a problem for instance, if some people own a 2Gig hard drive and others have a 10gig, for example.
Also, the driver software stored in PS2 for things like DVD, PSX compatibility, can potentially be upgraded with a new software release from Sony.
Does this mean that people will have different DVD drivers, etc?
the thing with the console industry is that these things have been traditionally very tightly controlled, but Sony seem to want less control over third party peripherals than, say, nintendo.
Could this lead to a PC-style situation with all the gaming problems associated with hardware incompatibility?

you should know yor a$$ creats more pollution than all of the us. this topic is getting interesting, who needs enemies when i have a friend like you. Have you noticed that the planets have onece again alligned around your tank a$$
