Superb.
Totally different from the 1st two series.
Tubs & Edward killed in the first minute "Lines and lines and lines"
BAM
No laughter track this time, playing it straight as an arrow.
Loved the various movie nods, the kid from Tim Drum at the funeral was top and the last 2 mins with the "Don't Look Now" pastiche starting with Mickey's painting "bleeding" was superb.
Chuckled at the amount of man-on-man action (even with Steve Pemberton dressed as Pauline, it's still 2 blokes), that'll ruffle a few psyches out there. Wonder if it's to deter the trendy "Oh yah, that show is like, sooo cool man!" since they won the BAFTA?
Shock 'em with homo-erotic sex scenes so they have to pretend they think it's tres trendy?
Next episode in 2 mins on BBC Choice, or next week on BBC2.
Good to have The League of Gentlemen back, darker than before and just as funny.

alan partridge is nigh on unbeatable.
"Do you like me doing that? would you like me to do it faster, or maintain the same speed? ........ " classic
Could be interesting, as everyone who's done it before them has been a fairly down-the-line pretty-boy comedy type.
eh dave
dave?
dave there please?
....
you're my wife now........
Bits that made me laugh from the 1st series
"Spray me with paint ay? Burn our local shop and rape our dead mouths!"
"Theatre Learning they call it. Aids in a van I call it"
"In this house Benjamin..."
"How many Maverick bars did a'they steal?"
Superb.
But yeah, I'll just make do with League of Gentlemen and The Office til then.
I'd forgotten loads of bits from it. Chinnery firing the tortoise out of it's shell, Tubbs "Hel-mit..hee hee. May I touch it?"
I'm fairly sure Tubbs & Edward are gone for good, too. I remember reading an interview with the writers; they mentioned that they would kill off without hesitation any characters they felt the public were getting attached to.
Most of the "Prime time" comedy on BBC1 is unfunny, although I do sometimes like My Family.
> and somehow find humour in Gimme Gimme Gimme.
How is that possible? I've watched two episodes, once purely because I wondered if anything could be so consistenetly unfunny for a full 30 minutes, and a second time because I was on a plane where I couldn't turn the in-seat TV off, and had to watch it, without sound thank god, for another 30 minutes. I think one person laughed that time. Once or twice.
What makes me laugh is when the 1st series was on all my friends thought it was a load of twisted nonsense an thought I was messed up in the head for liking it, yet by the 2nd series they where all going on about how much they like it. Ask them which are their favourite characters and all they can remember are Babs Cabs and Tubbs and Edward, probably cause they're the more obvious, easy to get humour. These are the sort of people that own the entire series of Friends on video and somehow find humour in Gimme Gimme Gimme.
I wish they made a 4th series and in a way I don't, I can understand why they don't want to but then without League there wont be much Comedy left to look forward too. Hopefully they'll do another Drury Lane type thing.
