Swearing, in any form is not allowed. This is a family forum (believe it or not) and we don't want young people coming on here reading foul language, or indeed, parents coming on here and seeing the kind of language that some of you post. The swear filter is there for a reason, and that's not for you to try and beat it with s p a c e s or 'quote marks'. If we find any swearing, of any kind, it'll be deleted, and you may be banned.
Being offensive to one another is something we will also not tolerate. As you all know, someone was banned last week (in my absence, I might add) for calling someone a dirty homo, or something like that. This just ain't acceptable I'm afraid. Just as bad is topics like the one saying things like 'so and so likes hairy men' - it might have been a joke, but some people don't have the same sense of humour as you, and din't find it funny. We're not saying stop having fun, but topics like that serve only to annoy.
Some people have accused us of favouritism in the past ie. certain people get away with saying stuff without a warning, and some don't. From now on, there'll be no swearing at all, BY ANYBODY on the site, whether you've been here a day or 3 years. Posts with swearing or offensive writing in them will be deleted, and depending on the severity of the post, will be warned/banned. This means everyone.
This shouldn't be hard to do, the vast majority of you are adults, or at least are mature enough to behave like civilised people. These are our forums, and you'll post on here by our rules, whether you like it or not. If anyone has any problems with this, let me know, but I'd like this to be a new start for these forums, with no stupid slanging matches between users, no *starring out* offensive posts and no deliberately getting people annoyed. If you've got something you wanna get out of your system, do it someplace else.
I hope you can all agree to these rules.

i thought that was pretty funny. you should keep it
Honestly.
A 4yr old toddling about screaming obscenities thinking nothing of it can make me laugh for hours.

*******
Or when the morons on the Crystal Maze run around in circles screaming because they don't know what to do.
> But the meaning of this hasn't changed. I don't understand how that
> is relevant
It is relevant because as I said earlier, the meaning changes according to the context. "T**t him" means to hit someone, and has no reference at all to the original meaning of the word.
> But it isn't. What is your point
So if it isn't just a word, what is it? A bunnyrabbit?
> Its not vulgar the word in question is, whats your point
My point is that to me, coccyx *sounds* like a more vulgar word.
Words are just a collection of letters, with a meaning given to them by usually by a single person, who then tells everyone else what it means.
I could call you a flink, and tell everyone that it means something vulgar. Hey presto - instant swearword - and *if* it becomes widely used, it will eventually find its way into the dictionary.
There are several other legitimate descriptive words which refer to various parts of female genitalia, none of which are swearwords, but which you also wouldn't use in 'polite' conversation. They mean exactly the same thing, but one is deemed offensive, while another isn't.
It all basically comes down simply to the sound of the word. The 'T' and 'C' words are just different words for 'vulva' and 'v****a', in the same way as 'cat' and 'dog' are other words for 'feline' and 'canine' - so please tell me, in what way is one more offensive than the other?
If you stop taking offence to it, you devalue its intended meaning, and it becomes 'harmless'. You find it offensive simply because you have been told that is to be interpreted in that way.
Swearing depends on interpretation, but it's not always cut-and-dried. Look at the word 'bast*rd'. It's been considered to be swearing for years, and it won't go through the filter, but the dictionary defines it as:
n.
A child born out of wedlock.
Something that is of irregular, inferior, or dubious origin.
Slang. A person, especially one who is held to be mean or disagreeable.
adj.
Born of unwed parents; illegitimate.
Not genuine; spurious: a bast*rd style of architecture.
Resembling a known kind or species but not truly such.
What, exactly, is offensive about any of that? Once upon a time, it was unacceptable to have a child 'out of wedlock', and so to call someone a bast*rd could be considered an insult. Nowadays it's not a problem for most, but even then it was a bit lame. But a swearword? I don't think so.
> I find it offensive, why do you have a problem with that
I don't have a problem with it at all. I believe this is a discussion forum? I'm discussing it. It's not a discussion I started, but it is one I have an opinion on. I've said that I don't swear here or in public as I respect the opinions of others. It seems to be you who has the problem with me.
But then if your parents would tell you off for saying something as inane as 'damn', I'm not entirely surprised. And please believe me, that is NOT intended as an insult. I'm all for parents encouraging their kids not to swear, but that seems excessive to me - almost a Victorian attitude.
There's a time and place for swearing, it's when you're with your friends, or feel the need to shout at someone. That time and place isn't these game related forums
> Anyway, Rosalind, you git! :P
*******
Leave her alone.
That swines part was a joke, before we get Jesus-Team airing their views.
