I was sitting here updating my website when the whole house shook - enough to cause some stuff on my desk to fall over, but not to do any damage.
It was bloody scary!
I'm in Northampton - anyone else have it?
However, it seems the whole British Isles felt this tremour! I never thought I'd experience an Earthquake (or be awake to) but I have.
I'm happy.
I was sitting there, playing Wave Race: Blue Storm, and the whole house shook
Scary. :O
> Was it about 00:45-1am?
Yup. I think it's 'officially' timed at 00:54

I'm imagining all the Brummies...
*In best Brum accent*
" we're 'avin an uurthquake!"
I was nodding off and thought my bed moved. Only for a split-second, thought I was imagining it - one of those almost asleep moments.
And that was in Essex.
Superb, my very own in-bed rollycoaster.
I think we should jump up and down all at the same time shouting "More! More!".
What? Oh come on, like you'd miss Dudley if it sank into the earth.

That was nothing to do with the earthquake, that was just natural symbolism! ;-)
Apparently it was 4.8 on the Richter scale - that's quite major, isn't it?
We had one about 10 years ago that was 2-point-something, but me and my dad were upstairs laying a carpet and didn't feel it; it was only my mum yelling out that alerted us to it.
Last night, at first I thought my chair was about to break. Then I thought it was a strong wind. Then I heard the rumbling and realised what was happening. All in the space of the fre seconds it lasted.
My computer desk wobbles if you knock it. I just tried shaking it by hand to see how much it would have to shake for things to fall over, and I had to shake it quite violently to get anything to fall over - but as I said last night, stuff on the desk did fall - so it must have been stronger than I realised at the time.
All I can say is I'm really glad I don't live in a place where it's a regular occurrence!
However I shall rectify that with the next attempt
*shakes fist at Dudley*
I'll get you, oh yes.
