Well maybe they don't complain to you but I'm sure many children have cried to their parents saying how all of the other children at school got alot more presents than them etc. This too could make the parents feel bad and sad and so next year they buy them more presents. I mean, I'm sure there are exceptions to this (your family seems to be one of them) but in general it's probably like that.

I simply wouldnt buy the amount of presents people do these days, with my nephew and nieces they only get one present each from me at Christmas and birthday and they always have, they expect no more and no less from me. My brother is the same with them and Ive never once heard them complain about it.

Jesus, I'm blind. I only just realised it is "I Need Sleep".
I always just read it as "in eed sleep" i.e. "in need of sleep". Pretty stupid, that.

Yeah, bottled water should be really cheap. It is after all, really healthy and the best thing you can drink and perhaps if it was cheaper more people would drink it.

Well I think Lindgren and INeedSleep have hit the spot and got to the source of the whole Christmas presents thing. The bad thing is though, I don't think it'll get any better. It'll probably just get worse. More and more presents every year...damn, by the time I'm a dad it's going to cost me ALOT :P

Just that whole process would put me off it. I'd prefer to go to the shop and buy some. That is a real pain...you do all that just to get water :/

I know you werent :) I think it is partly the parents to blame catering for their kids every whim when theyre small and accepting their lavish demands. A lot of parents unfortunately cant say no or are afraid of being seen as a bad parent, when really by buying every little thing the kid asks for theyre teaching the kids nothing about compromise or thinking about how their asks affect others.
