"Finally the news has arrived, Nintendo has officially sold its share of Rare to Microsoft for just short of $400 million. Last year, Nintendo had the opportunity to purchase the company, and refused. Rare put up the for sale sign and was looked at by both Microsoft and Activision. Microsoft won the bidding war, and Nintendo has cut its ties with Rare."
"Star Fox Adventures is still due out on September 23rd, but GBA titles like Sabre Wulf, Diddy Kong Pilot, Donkey Kong: Coconut Crackers, and Banjo Kazooie are still an unknown. We are assuming that at least 1 or 2 of these are already finished, and should be released by the end of the year, if not early next year."
"This announcement will be made official at Microsoft’s X02 Europe event in Seville, Spain on September 24th. Ironically, it's the day after Nintendo ships Rare’s one and only GameCube title yet no one picked up on anything."
"Although Nintendo doesn't comment on rumors or speculation by the media, we can tell you that Nintendo spoke to us and said that they have made the decision not to request Rare to make any further exclusive games for the Nintendo GameCube. Although we're proud of our joint efforts with Rare over the years and have enjoyed our relationship with them, in fiscal year 2001, Rare accounted for only 9.5% of total Nintendo software revenue worldwide. In fiscal year 2002, that number declined to 1.5%. Therefore, in evaluating our investments in developers, as well as the financial benefits to Nintendo over the years, we've decided it's in Nintendo's best interests to focus on diversifying our portfolio of developers and projects elsewhere away from Rare."
The email also spoke that Perfect Dark ZERO will be an XBOX exclusive and as previously discussed the main character will change but the game Rare have been working on for the GameCube will be enhanced using extra Xbox features but the level designs will be kept as planned.
Oh well just another few games to add to the list of 32 :) at least they won't be out this year which will give me chance to rob a few banks etc!
Is this the end of Nintendo as we know it? Will the rumours about this being Nintendo's last console be coming apperent sooner than we expected? All will be revealed soon!!

Oooh! Quotation marks! Now I'm convinced! Earlier today garbe123 wrote:

Okay, so that's going a bit far. But surely you think Nintendo would have announced something on their official website, rather than let IGN do it? IGN, as always, have probably twisted their words, and in the e-mail all it said was about Rare's importance to Nintendo.
On other websites, Nintendo have apparently e-mailed saying Rare are going no-where, or that they will not sell their shares. From previous experiences, IGN are not a reliable source.
I'll accept it when I see some proper evidence.

I've known of you for two days, and already I get the impression your a bit stupid.
If you read my post it says "I don't want an argument". See?
Back to an earlier comment about my freinds selling their GameCubes, did I actually say all 7 of them had GameCubes? NO, why don't you read the previous posts before replying!
As for this Fina person, I can't be bothered arguing anymore over sad topics, if you want to argue then thats fine but its boring me to death! All people use it for is word count anyway, if you want to argue then thats fine by me but after arguing in the past about stupid Ninties has brought me to the conclusion that its really sad to be arguing out something that is a materialistic object! Football however is a different matter :)
Once these people have the X-Box, the chances are they'll gradually see other games they wouldn't mind having as well - maybe they'll even get onto X-Box Live as well.
So overall, Rare's reputation alone can bring its benefits.
And the end of Nintendo as we know it? I doubt the loss of Rare will bring down the greatest games company in the world.. ever.
i've been waiting for a good game to come since launch...
and like wookie's my xbox has been gathering dust too
my gc...i got it and have been very disappointed with it...but the only reason i haven't sold it is cos of the games coming out about now.
didn't find a single title foudn outstanding...
hated ssbm and only found rogue leader 2 mediocre.....super monkey ball was quite fun though and wave race is okay but i haven't played it much...and my new game -resident evil (damn i hate the controls but i'll get used to them i guess)
ps2 has been fine with me....had a few games being released that i wanted every so often like FFX, virtua fighter 4, tekken 4, moh: frontline, v rally 3
AND MY FAVOURITE OF ALL -my PC....always has good games coming :D
I personally don't really care but until Nintendo, Rare or MS say something offiial then I won't believe it!
There were many rumours that got denied at the last moment, could this be another one?

One way to get strong, carry it around with you...
Sleeping with your Xbox could also hurt...

Oh, you WILL be getting Rare games, on BOTH Gamecube AND XBox!
It'll start with Meka's recommendation of Starfox Adventures.
You'll like it, so you'll try another, and another, and another...
And before you know it, you'll be hooked and devote your life to the company, camping outside at Twycross... ;-D
