Taken from www.officialxboxmagazine.co.uk: -

"The results of the largest survey of gamers this year has revealed that Xbox is the top console of choice this Christmas.

Over 12,000 US gamers were asked, "What console do you plan to buy in the coming year?" and 39 percent answered Xbox! 27 percent answered PlayStation 2, and 17 percent plan to pick up a GameCube.

The study also showed that game demos are the most influence over game purchase decisions. When asked "Which of these items highly influence your game purchase decisions?" nearly 8 out of 10 respondents (78%) ranked game demos the number 1 factor, far ahead of the number 2 response: game reviews (47%). Both television commercials (35%) and magazine ads (31%) trailed furthest behind as drivers."

Not bad eh?

CUBE Magazine are actually held in quite high regard, and as they are part of the same company that make an X-Box and PS2 magazine then I'd say it's quite trustworthy.

Anyway, enough with this. Lets not turn this into a console war. It's about games, and that's it.

Well I've played the games on both consoles too and although the GC has some great graphics, there is still a noticable difference when comparing it to the X-Box games.

Because they want to believe they're own "facts" they've read. GC simply cannot push out the same graphics quality as the X-Box. Yes Resident Evil looks great but its pre-renderd. That Halo 2 trailer shows what the X-Box can really do - the GC could not do this game.
When you play games like Crash Bandicoot, Blinx, Tony Hawks - you can see the amazing details on the characters fur, or every blade of grass where other consoles would use a basic green patch.

Dead or Alive 3 looks superb, but it uses around a quarter of the X-Box's power. When you see the Halo 2 trailer thats very believable too.

How do you know there is a tiny difference?

I can't be bothered to argue. No-one seems to want to accept the FACTS. There's only a tiny difference in each console anyway, so I don't care.

Urgh.

Specifications argument as usual, Xbox Can out peform the Gamecube by quite a distance if developers pushed the hardware, Current games are just skimming the surface of the power of Xbox.

But the comparisons are all wrong! It's stupid comparing GameCube's polygon count to X-Box's, the same goes with processors! The GameCube processor is the equivalent of an 800Mhz one if you were to convert it to the X-Box's type. Also, the polygon count has been proven to be higher. And then there's all about these effects.. Maybe because of the hard drive you can do more, but there's no change in graphics or speed.
