Chose to go straight into career. Saw that disturbing video of the crash. I only got offered one test Drive at the start but thankfully it was at an easy Brands Hatch course. Well, beat the test drive time by 18 seconds. Started up the race, and oh my God. Every car is faster than me. One little skid and you go down to last place with no chance of getting anywhere near the points. Really annoyed, so spend the entire second race driving around the track in reverse crashing into the cars and making them all boogered. Eventually retire after my car can only go in a straight line at 18 mph. Play through Silverstone, start 3rd so decide to play sensibly. The sun is so bright I can't see the track and within 12 seconds I'm 14th with all the other cars at the other side of the track. Really utterly annoyed so i decide to go on a violent rampage in this race. This results in me being 6th at the end of he first lap with little cars in sight behind or in front of me. At last a point. By the end of the 3rd lap I'm 1st. I finish in this position but realise that the bloody game hadn't told me it was a mandatory pit stop race and I come 14th again. Put everything into the last 2 races and coe 7th then 14th. Finish 13th overall in the championship. Break down and cry.
At this point in time I hate the game.
I just started a new championship thing with Alfa Romeo in an all Alfa season. It's good now as all cars are even yet the top 5 still seem to get miles ahead of everyone else. I'm on the third race of that now, I finished 5th and 6th and it's getting much more enjoyable.
View: Starts rubbish, but picks up later.
Score so far: 6/10 - A bit too tough and frustrating to be truly enjoyable.
View: Starts crap, but
I even remember playing TOCA on a PSX demo and it was exactly the same.
The pop up sucks, but it's in the background and frankly, who cares. And try monza at sunset it if you want to see some ncie graphics.
It's really addictive, i love it.
I'll do the American one cos the Nascar course looks a laugh.

Thats in the power series. The American one in the starter series is in crap cars like the Chrysler Neon and Talon Eagle. Still great fun though.
And all you critics clearly have something against the game. Why pick up on tiny details like pop-up and damage not realistic and say it wrecks the game? Thats stupid, positive points clearly out number bad points. Besides you can get rid of the damage problem by putting in that code. Anyway, if you have ever seen the ToCA races on TV then you will clearly see the crashes are like they are in the game. One of the Civics (from this season) smashed straight into a tire wall and was hardly smashed, and went on to win the race. So get a grip newbie tw@ts and learn the facts. Besides you shouldn't be hitting the wall at 90mph anyway, unless your crap. Heh.
SIM makes the handling realistic (e.g. you can side-swipe cars properly to get them to spin off) and DAMAGE...well, put it this way, try not to hit anything :)

Does the damage code make it more realistic or would you say more OTT, because the damage seems fine as it is?
P.S. sr are the best!! whoo!
For all of us that know a great game when we see one, ENJOY!
Like any TOCA game, the handling is unique, and it takes a bit of playing about with the car settings in Free mode and a bit of practice on the startline and braking manoevres until you really get the feel for a particular car.
Once you've invested an hour or two doing this, the game really opens up to its full potential, and the replays are the best ever, especially when you can switch cameras and pan around the most spectacular crash sequences.
Best bit for me so far was on Oulton Park, Reid was in first place and managed to barrel roll his car after getting side swiped by the car in second place. His nose dug into the road, the car flipped about 20 feet into the air and landed on the car that side swiped him, and they both rolled down the road together for about 50 metres. I was doing about 100 mph coming up behind them, and just as I thought collision was unavoidable Reid's car tumbled one more time, flipping itself just high enough that I could drive straight underneath and win the race with one corner to go. The replay shows a gap of about 3 metres between my car and his before he flipped, and he landed about an inch behind my car when he hit the road again.
