Do you all remember the Legend of Zelda and Majora's Mask on N64?
Do you all remember the graphics, the temples and characters?
Now that the Gamecube is out theres a new Zelda game
in the making, coming soon. But when I saw the screen shots
in a Nintendo magazine I was totally shocked and disappointed.
They had made it look like a stupid little cartoon, leaving you wondering
what on earth was going through the designers head. He's disappointed
lots of Zelda fans and I can only hope he makes a new improved
Zelda game as a very quick follow up. Although it'd be nice to think that the screen shots are just a sick joke. Imagine playstation turning Lara Croft into a Powerpuff Girl lookalike, they'd be an uproar.

I think cel shading is ok, and at one stage nintendo should try it out.

But not with Zelda, everyone will remember the zelda games on 64 and think good graphics.

They should have made a completely new adventure and character to try it out on as then we would only know the character as cel shaded.

One last thing i havent seen cel shaded grphics before, is it true that in SSBM the pokemon float level is cel shaded??

at first i didn't like it, it looked like they went back a step insted of forward, but now i've seen it in action (a gamecube mag DVD) is looks pretty good to me.

Before when i had first heard the news of the Cel-shading idea i was annoyed as u were until i had read about all that matters is the gameplay and story line being the most important part of a Zelda game, after that had come to like the idea, i still think it's a BIT rubbish like some unmentioable "Carton Network" program that I detest muchly, but i am still a true Zelda fan so i will be buying and playing this new game.

Indeed, and many of his comments weren't too clear as the whether or not they were his opinion.

Yes, he WROTE "in my opinion" BUT:

It was usually followed by:

"Nintendo should've pushed the Gamecube with proper 3D graphics instead of crap 2D ones"

Making it more of a false statement.

We corrected him that Cel Shading isn't an easy way out, and as unimpressive as it looks in a screenshot, it is suited for the slickest animation around, bringing the game to life.

Now if he'd said:

"In my opinion, i think that the old Zelda footage suited the game better than this cel shading"

That would've been a fair opinion, rather than just calling Cel Shading crap!

If you are a true zelda fan then the graphics are only a small part of what makes a difference to your decision of buying the game, the most important part of the game tht does make a difference is the gameplay and the storyline.
So if you are not a true Zelda fan then we won't be seeing you play the game.

I wouldn't say Zelda was perfect for it. In fact, I've always been for spellbounding ultra-realistic graphics, but the cel shading seems okay and I trust Nintendo.
