I propose we don't let newbies vote in the next election. Because then we get

A) People creating new usernames

B) Pro Evo

C) Pro Evo

D) People who don't know what they're talking about making the decision

E) Pro Evo

If you let newbies vote this time, we'll get Natbuc or someone as notable. Don't let them, and it'll be someone good like Mr Happy.

Discuss.

Yeh sorry about that, it was partly my fault last time when I started a subject about Pro Evo. I mentioned he was doing well, and that if you wanted your vote to count, it was better to vote for him than for another Sony poster with next to no votes.

You`ve gotta notice though that its not a major problem. If it was, all the notables would be PS2 owners. As it is, Pro Evo is the only one I know with only a PS2. Wookiee Monster is also a fan, but also has an interest in the other consoles. Almost all the other notables have "loyalties" in other directions.

Perhaps. I dunno, I haven`t been in there much for the last, erm, year? Dunno how long its been really, but I make about 1/500 of the posts I used to.

I see your point, but don`t completely agree with it. As you say, the idea of being a notable is that the person has contributed to the forums. However, I don`t think its the s that counts, just the contribution. In the PS2 forum he has created some fantastic topics. As a result, he has made a large group of us think "Hey, this guy's made a big contribution to the forum, maybe we should vote for him as a notable". To us, that's all that counts. There were more people in that group than there were in the groups voting for other people, and so Pro Evo fairly won the election.

Anyway, I have the following suggestions.

1) I agree, no newbie votes.

2) No tactical voting allowed on the forums (i.e. no posts like mine making voting suggestions). Obviously it can still be talked about on things like MSN as there is nothing that could be done about that, but by keeping it off the forums, it`ll reach fewer people.

3) Have some sort of limit on the number of notables.

Meh, that didn't really make it clear enough. What I object to is the gay mass voting that the Sony forum does. I really hate that forum. The sucking up that goes on in there is pathetic. You all pander to each other. So come election day, you lot got your notable. Someone that no-one had heard of or seen anything from. While I don't actually like monkey_man, he was a helluva lot more deserving, because he actually contributed the the forumS, not just one forum.

That was my point.

I agree. And its nothing special for Pro Evo, I insult everyone :) I just object to him getting voted in. If I was jealous I'd target all the notables..

And I do want to be a notable, thats been made clear several elections ago.

Wow, isn`t this a brilliant topic.

Don`t let newbies vote... Good plan, but that was tackled before. The "register for x days, make x posts" or whatever, was stopping newbie newbies voting. However, this still meant you could set up an account in advance make a load of posts and vote for yourself or whoever you wanted. The problem would be virtually the same even if all newbies couldn`t vote, only it would take slightly longer to build up the accounts. I can`t see 10k words being a problem though if you start planning in advance. The top posters on here make 60k posts a month so with three months between elections they could easily get 18 users up to regular status each time.

Anyway, it wasn`t that bit of the topic that bothered me, as it was a reasonable suggestion, but the part about Pro Evo is. You`ve been here a while now, but in all that time I`ve rarely ever been in the same conversation as you so I`m probably reading only the cover here, but it sounds a lot like jealousy.

If its not jealousy then I guess its just "I`m having a bad day and can`t be bothered to keep any restraint". Just because you don`t like somebody doesn`t mean you should start throwing their name round attached to insults. As far as I know, Pro Evo has never done anything to hurt or annoy you, so why do you feel you should take it out on him?

A lot of people on here, including myself, and probably you couldn`t care less if somebody on the forums threw an insult our way. If your reaction now was to start attacking me too, then I wouldn`t care, and similary I`m sure this post won`t have any effect on you, but try to take into account that other people might be affected. I`m not saying Pro Evo is going to sit and cry about this, I`m sure he won`t, but there could be people on here younger than yourself, and more emotional about these things that could get upset if a stranger started taking shots at them.

Yeah, that should be the only restriction, no newbies to vote.

Newbies shouldn't vote

Notable should be voted out to make it interesting

Simple

It's only a bit of fun anyway
