. And maybe The new game is going to be PS2 or worst X-box exclusive.
The word is something about Perfect Dark 0 online version for PS2. And
version of Conker for stupid X-box. God save us all!!
P.S. Do not buy X-box. It is evil.

Still, if you think about it, expanding an existing franchise can be just as good as creating a new one.
Perfect Dark might've been a sequel to Goldeneye, but it brought in so many brilliant new ideas to the FPS that it was still very innoative and original in many ways.
Likewise, the new things that they could do with the Gamecube could expand things even further. Online play is one idea.
If so, hopefully they won't be afraid to copy other peoples best ideas as well as impliment their own new ones.
For instance, in Perfect Dark, I was hoping they'd copy Turok 2's colour coding idea for teams (to prevent mix ups) and a Turok 2 style Weapon wheel for easy weapon selection. They used both ideas and they worked well.
I'd like to see Halo style vehicles and an Xbox style 16 player link up for the new Perfect Dark's multiplayer. Even then, there was a ridable hover bike in Perfect Dark (which could be expanded on), so it wouldn't even be really copying...
Putting simply, if Rare want to make the best FPS they'll have to use the best of other people's ideas as well as making their own.
And I'm sure that's EXACTLY what they'll do.
;)
And once again, you've crippled the argument in my post. Happy now? :O)
Still, i want new franchises. I just do :OD

Well, if there's one thing Nintendo do best, it's taking risks. Pikmin, cell shading for Zelda GC, Luigi's Mansion. Nintendo have been very quiet about 2003 though, perhaps they've got something lined up?
I'd just like to see a game making a fresh start without any of the old ties or anything.
Still, i guess that's not as 'safe' for the developers.
> Where's the originality gone?
Well, it depends what you mean by original. Super Mario Sunshine's an brilliantly innovative title, with a new storyline, level design, controls and characters (well, apart from Mario and Yoshi). I don't really think it should be deemed 'unoriginal' if Mario's been in a game before.
The same with Luigi's Mansion, the concept a new, breath of fresh air, but because Luigi's in it, it's not original? I understand what you're saying, but I'm all for implementing new ideas with old characters.
