What's all the fuss with Coldplay?

After being given a copy of Parachutes it seems to me that there's very little variety in what they do, most of their songs sound very similar.

Even the new one, In My Place, sounds like it could have been pulled from the Parachutes album. Can they do nothing that sounds different?

Radio 1 DJ's are trying to promote the record, get it to number 1, but it's really not that good.

Definitely good background music. Given the choice I would listen to Coldplay over Travis.

Similar kinda sound.

I saw them in Cardiff Uni with Idlewild. I dont remember much I was hammered and just stood at the side of the stage shouting 'Roddy Woomble' in my best Highland accent throughout both sets.

Then I went to a hotel and met Emma B. It was a strange night.

I saw them at the Square, about two weeks before Yellow came out and they exploded (not literally). They were good, and the singer had curly hair.

"In my place" is on the radio right now.

They're music to buy furniture to.
If water had a sound, it would be Coldplay.

I don't dislike them or like them, it's supreme indifference.

As long as you don't expect the world from them, they write catchy, melodic tunes that are quite capable of bringing a grown man to tears, or making youths sway together in rhythmical fashions. Parachutes was great, because you didn't have to think too hard about it, just put it on, sing along and that's it.

And for the record, Trouble is one damn fine song.

Never really been a big Colplay fan, but I saw their live performance from Glastonbury and I thought it was ace. I was quite suprised I expected carbon copies of Parachutes songs but from what I heard there was much more depth.. and dare I say it darkness.

Meh, I think both Coldplay and Idlewild are top bands. Quite nice that Idlewild are supporting Coldplay when I go to see them in October. In My Place should get to number 1, it's a brilliant song.

Oh yeah Stryke, bought The Remote Part the other day, it's a class album.
