OK, so we've established that you have no taste

Don't need broadband to get online. I used to play Broodwar on battle.net with my 56k. And internet for fax/modem is next to free these days.

and if you need to calculate your taxes, or write up your cv, or keep hold of your account transactions, or write a letter or anything? You don't need to do any of this ever? k.

I'm sick of people saying "cds have good quality" they don't. Vinyl and minidisc are the highest quality formats available, CDs can't match it because they aren't capable of full frequency high fidelity recording. you don't want to be able to choose what you want on your CDs? fine.

fair enough, would be nice to have the choice though eh?

indeed.

actually not at all. I could download an emulator for PS2 in 10 minutes, download a hacked version of GT3 and be playing it on my PC within 20 minutes, and it would instantly look better on my monitor than it would on your TV.

I have though about that and I wonder how many can play GTA3? do they all own computers with 750Mhz P3's inside.

Don't worry you will be the one with egg on your face when doom3 comes out and you can't play it because it needs a 1Ghz processor.
Where is your NeverWinter Nights? - Whats that
Where is your IceWind Dale II - zzzzzzzzzzz
Where is your online gaming community? - If you can afford it + can u get broadband where u live.
Where is your office products? - use it at work - don't want it on my games console!
Where is your mp3 creator? - Ahh, the format that no one owns + u need to set up the pc just 2 stream music to it - just take a cd instead (and it's better quality).
Where is your web authoring tools? - people do this for a living - don't want to start doing this on my tv.
Where is your image design tools? - more of the same.
Where are they?
Nowhere, because as things stand your market can't handle them.
It's a games machine, so you don't start running Word in a window next to GT3. But at games, a console will always be better value, and a safer option than a pc. Some pc games can look good, but try matching the graphics of GT3 using a PC and a really big monitor - it's expensive and difficult!

thankyou =)

Think about what you just said, think about how much money is in the industry, and how many people in the world own PCs. Try again.
Anyway at least David RJR has seen the light.
> a: To expensive to buy
thoroughly disagree. I can buy a PIII 866 pc with all the trimmings and 17 inch monitor TODAY for less than £500. Now, you go and buy a console and a new tv for the same, and see who actually got the better deal.
> b: To expensive to keep up to date\and u need to do this!
Your console with be obsolescent in 2-3 years, and you'll have to replace the whole thing. Your PC will stay with you.
> c: Gives me a headache when new hardware or software breaks what i

Obviously you are incapable of maintaining your system properly

There are more games available on PC than all the other formats combined. Get your head out of your backside.
> e: I don't yet have a 24 inch wide screen monitor for my pc.
You don't need one. Monitors offer a much higher quality image than any television set. a 17 inch monitor is spectacular, and anything bigger is just mind bogglingly amazing
> f: Even in top condition, it can still crash\and does.
refer to my response to point c.
> g: New third party software may require faster chip/more ram, and/or

New games for PS2 don't work on the PS1 either. Move along, move along...

A little optimistic aren't you? First, I hope you have broadband. Second, I hope you don't mind shelling out for a hard drive and modem, costs on top of your original purchase - much like your pc you daft tw@t.
