Anyone who can afford to play PC games is priveliged, because the price of gaming on a PC is never worth it. I have GTA3 on my PS2 and I here it is now out for PC the only problem you need a 750Mhz P3 to run it, my laptop could not handle that and for a game that is visually ok, but nothing special that is a lot of spec required. Then there are graphic card updates that you need which can cost as much as a Next Gen console, and the hassle of setting the game up for running on your PC. No I'm affraid my pc days have long gone unless I bought an Xbox I suppose.

PIII 866Mhz with 17" monitor! Thats old now. If i did get another pc, right now it would be at least a P4/2.0Ghz with 512Mb Ram - u need it for quality graphics software under XP, big hard drive, 10/100/GB Ethernet card, CD/DVD, 19" Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 92 monitor (minimum), USB ports (2), Firwire port, expansion for at least 3 full size PCI cards, expansion for at least 1.0Gb Ram, a couple of spare drive bays, Ultra Wide SCSI connections for speed - then a sound system as well - and thats not made up! AND a P5 will probably get relaunched by the time you have seen this text!

OK, so we've established that you have no taste

Don't need broadband to get online. I used to play Broodwar on battle.net with my 56k. And internet for fax/modem is next to free these days.

and if you need to calculate your taxes, or write up your cv, or keep hold of your account transactions, or write a letter or anything? You don't need to do any of this ever? k.

I'm sick of people saying "cds have good quality" they don't. Vinyl and minidisc are the highest quality formats available, CDs can't match it because they aren't capable of full frequency high fidelity recording. you don't want to be able to choose what you want on your CDs? fine.

fair enough, would be nice to have the choice though eh?

indeed.

actually not at all. I could download an emulator for PS2 in 10 minutes, download a hacked version of GT3 and be playing it on my PC within 20 minutes, and it would instantly look better on my monitor than it would on your TV.

I have though about that and I wonder how many can play GTA3? do they all own computers with 750Mhz P3's inside.

Techno freak, why must you insist on re-registering as Dave RJR to agree with yourself? I can see right through you. And as for this argument, well it's not really an argument sinse you haven't studied the facts of PC gaming. I would suggest you do that before posting crap like this yet again.

Don't worry you will be the one with egg on your face when doom3 comes out and you can't play it because it needs a 1Ghz processor.

Where is your version of WarCraft III? - Yawn
Where is your NeverWinter Nights? - Whats that
Where is your IceWind Dale II - zzzzzzzzzzz
Where is your online gaming community? - If you can afford it + can u get broadband where u live.
Where is your office products? - use it at work - don't want it on my games console!
Where is your mp3 creator? - Ahh, the format that no one owns + u need to set up the pc just 2 stream music to it - just take a cd instead (and it's better quality).
Where is your web authoring tools? - people do this for a living - don't want to start doing this on my tv.
Where is your image design tools? - more of the same.
Where are they?
Nowhere, because as things stand your market can't handle them.

It's a games machine, so you don't start running Word in a window next to GT3. But at games, a console will always be better value, and a safer option than a pc. Some pc games can look good, but try matching the graphics of GT3 using a PC and a really big monitor - it's expensive and difficult!

The reason many of the PC games are cheaper is because they are desperate just to sell them.

thoroughly disagree. I can buy a PIII 866 pc with all the trimmings and 17 inch monitor TODAY for less than £500. Now, you go and buy a console and a new tv for the same, and see who actually got the better deal.

Your console with be obsolescent in 2-3 years, and you'll have to replace the whole thing. Your PC will stay with you.

Obviously you are incapable of maintaining your system properly

There are more games available on PC than all the other formats combined. Get your head out of your backside.

> e: I don't yet have a 24 inch wide screen monitor for my pc.

You don't need one. Monitors offer a much higher quality image than any television set. a 17 inch monitor is spectacular, and anything bigger is just mind bogglingly amazing

> f: Even in top condition, it can still crash\and does.

refer to my response to point c.

New games for PS2 don't work on the PS1 either. Move along, move along...

A little optimistic aren't you? First, I hope you have broadband. Second, I hope you don't mind shelling out for a hard drive and modem, costs on top of your original purchase - much like your pc you daft tw@t.
