Er, to be even more awkward - the Platinum eX doesn't have a front panel, but the Platinum does. The eX version just replaces the front panel with an external unit. I should know, because I have Platinum (the front panel version).

Hum. Just to be awkward, the audigy alone (oem) can be had for £50, but the absolute best you could buy would be the platinum eX..as a general purpose card..£190ish. Includes a front 5 1/2 bay connector panel, which I've always found immensely useful, if a little messy.

As for pcs getting outdated...I haven't touched my hardware for almost 6 months now, still takes anything I throw at it fine (xp1600, ti500, 512mb ddr)..It's really not true that it's all useless within a week - sure, there's better, but it doesn't mean yours gets any slower, still excessively fast and overpowered for almost any need. My dad's is 18 months old now and still perfectly useable, only upgrade has been an extra 256mb ram thrown in..

I thought that when I bought mine a year ago. Mine is a GeForce 3(the original, none of that Ti stuff), Athlon 1.4Ghz (probably 1600+ - I bought it before AMD rebranded their processors), SB Audigy PLatinum (which I upgraded to), 512MB DDR RAM. It still works a treat.

ALthough when I bought Morrowind I thought my computer couldn't handle the furthest draw distance after watching it jerk a bit. But after reducing all the settings to suit that of a low specced PC, the results were still the same, so I stuck with the max settings, blaming the software.

Trust me, your PC will last for ages.
I've just seen 512MB DDR RAM for £90 at SR as well - 1GB RAM, here I come!

no it is'nt as I did not specify how long "a while" is, neway it would'nt need to be replaced within the next month or anything just merely "upgraded" at any rate, so it is not infact "BS" as you so desribed it :P neway i've wasted enough time posting this so argue all you want.
