I agree 100% with this. As I said before, there is work to be done if the Xbox is to be a Xmas success.
E.g.

Phew, that looks like a algorithm.

Well, buying a machine for one game is a bit silly - a mistake I made myself when buying the Xbox for Halo! At least none of us will make the same mistake again, but the difference is I'm persevering with the Xbox for a little longer.

If they're deciding what makes a "good console" based on graphics, then I'm sorry but they're fools. Xbox isn't *that* superior to the other systems, as evidenced by many of the screenshots in OXM; one game I'm particuarly interested in is Third Echelon, but if you look at the screenshots, it suffers from jaggies just as badly as any PS2 game. Your friends will soon come to realise that pretty graphics do not necessarily make a good game.
> and has not many games that come of intrest to them.
That, on the other hand, is a perfectly valid reason. If they don't think any of the forthcoming PS2 games appeal to them, that's fine. Although if they enjoyed GTA3, surely they would at least enjoy 'GTA Vice City' and 'The Getaway'?
Anyway, I'm glad you and your friends are happy with the Xbox. Hopefully I will be too, eventually.
I say XBOX online will be a winner when it comes to playing games online.
I prefer the more Hardcore realistic/fun games on the xbox. That it just my opinion though
> Perfecting gameplay will be an art by christmas
They haven't made perfect games in the 22 years I've been playing games. I can't see it happening in the next 6 months!

I like it. Had more fun with it than the Xbox so far!

I'm *really* looking forward to Resi, but I don't agree with the 'survival horror owned by GC' bit - you're forgetting the genre titles due on PS2, for a start: Resi Online, Run Like Hell, Devil May Cry etc., not to mention the Silent Hill titles on PS2 and Xbox.

I think that is what will keep GC going, possibly more than anything else.
Gameplay is a very important key but I feel that amazing graphics also is a very important key for me when choosing a game. This is one of the reasons why I got an Xbox because the graphics are brilliant on most of the titles. Perfecting gameplay will be an art by christmas time and you will see some of the greatest games ever taking shape, mark my words.
>And I also have a Gamecube
Got a Gamecube? Not heard your impressions on that yet.
Anyway, who will have the brightest Christmas depends on who you ask.
Most in this forum will say Xbox, Wookiee will most likely say PS2.
Myself, being a sort of biased Ninty think things look bright on the Gamecube (and that's not JUST Mario Sunshines graphics! :-D).
By the time Christmas comes, the GC might be as cheap as 100 quid.
What's more, a VERY strong release schedule from September onwards will provide the machine with AAA hardhitters in almost every genre.
The survival horror wil be more or less owned by the GC in the form of Resident Evil and Eternal Darkness. Adventures like Mario and Starfox will breath new life into the franchises.
Turok (multiformat, I know), Die Hard and Metroid will will light up the FPS genre not to mention plenty of fan-attracting Starwars games.
Still, that might not affect PS2 and Xbox sales because the GC's so cheap, many gamers are planning on getting one AS WELL as their PS2 and/or Xbox.

So you place graphics over gameplay? Granted, the PS2 version does not currently look as good as the Xbox version, and may never do - but the gameplay is enhanced, and a two-player mode has been added. Having said that, I don't rate the game and won't be buying the PS2 version either!
> As for what you said about the PS2, I feel totally the opposite.
That's fair enough - we're obviously looking for different things.

Well, let's hope you are correct!
> Will you be getting Splinter Cell?
Unknown at the moment - I've never bothered with any of the others in the Tom Clancy series. But I am keeping an eye on Third Echelon, among a couple of others.
