i just got an Electric one today so i can practice during the summer holidays etc but how long did it take until you got the hang of doing all the cords and stuff like that?

I've been playing for nine years now and I'd say I'm an accomplished guitarist. Keep sticking at it mate, and even if it gets as tough as hell, don't give up, because, in my humble opinion, its the best instrument in the world, bar none.

A lot of people may tell you to get a tutor to deviate from any 'habits', but they're not neccessary. I learnt from tutorial books for a few years and then when I got the internet a few years back, I used that to learn more advanced stuff etc.

Its quite easy to learn with just a book or webpage, like I did, and look at me now: in my own band too :D

What guitar you got mate? I got a Fender Strat and a Gibson Les Paul, both sweet guitars. Got a massive amp :D

Depends on how much you practice and how quickly you can pick it up. It's certainly not something you can learn quickly.

One things for sure, your gonna get sore fingers for a while. Until the tips of your fingers harden. I've been playing for about seven years now and mine are rock.
