Dust. I'm talking about dust. My PS2 always seems to have dust all over it and I'm concerned it might be clogging up the gaps, and from an aesthetic point of view it makes the sleekiness of the PS2 look crap. Plus, no matter who many times I clean it the problem is never solved. Ah well, guess I'll just have to live with it, unless...

Eww. Mine does the exact same. I clean it once every day, but a few hours later it seems to gather a wig of dust. And you're right, it makes the PS2 look very dirty indeed.

It's weird, but I think it must be the material on the casing... Or it could be my 11 year-old desk which it sits on. Hmm.

Yep it's better to be cautious. Thanks for the warning.

Mine neither and it runs fine. It gets around a bit though.

I read about it somewhere in a PC magazine about cleaning computers, they talked about how to be careful when cleaning the fan because the issues I've stated. Fan units on both systems are practically the same, so that's why I thought I'd mention it before someone bug-gers up their console. Just to be on the safe side anyway.

I hate the dust as well. My mother aid because it's black, that the dust shows up more. But that doesn't explain the dust clogged aroung the fan.

Yes but hoovers suck air out. So do fans. So surely they spin the same way?

I would say be careful to anyone who plans on using a hover on their PS2's fan. If the hover blows the fan in the opposite direction it normally spins, it can knacker the motor of the fan, stopping it from working. The result will be an over cooked PS2.

I tend to find more dust underneath it. Dunno how it gets underneath mind. Oh....and its always clogging up the grill at the front so i get the battery powered thing from my mums draw (hoover stupid) and use that. They're ok but they dont get that annoying stuck down type of dust up.
