Just saw in the Top 40 Games thread started by FM, that GasMask's name was greyed out, and he's been banned.

What for? Anyone know?

Well, judging by the amount of posts now in this thread it'd probably be easier to just un-ban him...

Not that I'm questioning the staff...

(please don't ban me...)

People have repeatedly asked why the person who asked for the serial number was not banned. How could we ban him? If he has pirated software at home in his own time it is none of our business. If you do a copy of a music tape for a friend should we ban you? How many people would be left on the forums?

The fact is that we can only act on what people do on the forums. If he was telling people how to pirate software, posting serial numbers or trying to sell it on the site he would have been banned because it could, amongst other things, land the site in legal difficulties - apart from any ethical considerations.

As always... I'm late as ever!! He posted up a fictional serial for someone else to pirate the software... He in now way what so ever pirated the software himself, nor was supplying said software, we was supplying, in sarcasm, a fictional serial number...

So you sentence should read...

"He posted up a fictitious serial number to enable someone else pirate some software!"

In light of that, it was a daft thing to do, and he's probably feeling like a right idiot... But hey, nevermind...
