But surely it is equally ludicrous to ban someone for posting a fake registration key?
He posted a key, and you banned him - the tone of post aside, you weren't to know at the time that it was not genuine, so the reaction to ban him was not unreasonable at all.
However, you are now fully aware that the post was a joke, and the key was fake. Surely it is not unreasonable to lift the ban and simply warn him not to do it again?
