I'm reading Origin by Stephen Baxter, good hard sci-fi, and is the third in a trilogy.

Well, I think that is an incredibly silly assumption.
Never assume, it makes an "ass" of "u" and "me"

This comment, obviously inspired by comments made in response to my own comment, makes little sense as a comment in its own right. Care to comment further?

Hardly, what I'm saying is that Harry Potter, being an obvious remake of a book to which it offers no credit, is essentially offensive. The feedback I have (yes, I mention the feedback AGAIN - I'm not basing this on the books covers like you all seem to think I am) suggests to me that although it may well be a book a lot of casual readers (and indeed some hardcore ones) can enjoy, it would bore me to tears were I to read more than a few pages.
And as it happens, I do like The Offspring, but I don't like Punk. I'm not judgemental, my opinion of Harry Potter is based upon the accumulation of a number of facts and opinions I have gathered over time. You may enjoy it, but I never will.
Fantastic

I haven't read "Wasp Factory", but Feersum Endjin doesn't really have a "main" character, and the "adolescent" you speak of comes across more as a mentally challenged mid-teens boy. never mind the fact that I despised his character, and wasn't fond of Bank's attempt to immitate the way he talked, as it reminded me of the first few pages of Pygmalion, where the playwright attempts to use phonetics to help grasp the accents.
Yuck.
For Insane Bartender.
